Q + A

What's the schedule for the day?

The ceremony will start at 1:30 at the First Universalist Church on the Upper Common in Hardwick. We'd like to get all of our guests in a group photo with us immediately following the ceremony in front of the church. There will be a social hour beginning at 3pm at Salem Cross Inn, located less than 15 minutes away in West Brookfield. Dinner will be served at 4pm, followed by music and dancing until 8pm.

What should I wear?

We welcome and encourage all of our guests to wear festive attire in shades of lavender.

Why lavender?

Besides being a beautiful color, lavender symbolizes affection, loyalty, peace, tranquility, and good luck! But wait, there’s more… The biblical meaning of lavender symbolizes purity, devotion, and love. The color is also associated with the crown chakra, which is the energy center associated with higher purpose and spiritual connectivity. Lavender spiritual symbolism represents love, healing, and innocence. In Victorian flower language, lavender represents friendship and tranquility. Its enduring aroma signifies the loyalty and commitment that friends share. The lavender flower personifies healing, innocence, purity of heart, faithfulness, serenity, virtue, grace, and peace of mind. The plant has healing properties that offer protection from bad and damaging energies. Lavender not only helps you to sleep but is also said to provide protection from bad dreams. It will not only promote healing but will also keep away illness. As a plant companion, it is said that lavender teaches us the importance of emotional and physical balance and the need for simplicity in life.

When do I need to RSVP?

Please let us know your meal choices as soon as possible. If you could let us know if you'll be attending and what your meal preference is by Monday, May 27, that would be very much appreciated!

Where should I park?

There is a parking lot in front of the historical society and on the street around the common.
