Thanksgiving Day of 2015. It was a cold, snowy day full of food, family, and Detroit Lions football. Little did Lisa know, it was also the day that she would meet the man who would later become her fiancé.

Lisa and her family made the trip out to Chicago from Southern California to spend Thanksgiving with her uncle that year. Her uncle's wife brought along her daughter, and her daughter brought along a date. While they barely spoke that night, Lisa appreciated Cody's love of sports and the time he spent serving our country in the Marine Corps. Beyond that, neither one of them thought much of that night, and went their separate ways after dessert.

Fast forward just a couple months and Lisa was getting ready to pursue her dream of living in the big city and found an apartment in Downtown Chicago. Not knowing a single soul there, she reached out to Cody and let him know about her plans. The two had kept in touch via social media, mostly just to banter back and forth about their sport teams rivalries. Cody responded with an invite to a party he was hosting out in the suburbs. He also let Lisa know that his relationship with her "cousin-in-law" had ended a few months prior and that he was looking forward to showing Lisa what his small town of Woodstock was like.

The party was a success and they hit it off. They started dating in June and spent the summer going to Cubs games in Chicago and bonfires in Woodstock. It felt like they had found their best friend and soulmate in one another, so when Lisa had to move back to California for work that fall, it was no surprise that Cody went with her. After three months of dating, they traveled across the country, moved into a place of their own, and truly began to live their lives together.

Five years later, he put a ring on it! Now we get to celebrate our love with our family and friends in our favorite city.
