Getting into Town

If you are flying into O'Hare, you can take the Blue Line (the only L line at O'Hare) to the Clark/Lake stop, from which it is about ten minutes' walk to the River North hotels. If coming from Midway, take the Orange Line to Clark/Lake.

If coming to Lincoln Park from O'Hare, the cost-conscious or public transit enthusiast can take the Blue Line to Clark/Lake, then switch to the Brown Line toward Kimball. You'll get off somewhere between Armitage and Belmont, depending on where you're staying. The veteran move is instead to take the Blue Line to the Damen stop, then get a rideshare from there. If coming from Midway, take the Orange Line to Clark/Lake, then switch to the Brown Line or get a rideshare from there.

Rideshares from either airport to downtown or Lincoln Park generally run around $35-45 and take about 30 minutes with no traffic, but be advised that those numbers rise considerably during peak traffic hours (between 3:00 and 7:00 pm on weekdays and whenever Chicago feels like it on weekends).

Where to Stay

The wedding will be in Lincoln Park. We have reserved blocks of rooms at two hotels, the Courtyard by Marriott and the Aloft, each of which is in River North, near the city center and about three miles south of Lincoln Park. If reserving there, please tell them you are part of the Connor/Hastings wedding block. Please note you must book your room by July 30 for the discounted rate, and that Aloft charges an extra $20 per person per night for every guest over two people in a room. (I.e., if you have three people, it's an extra $20 per night. Four people is an extra $40 per night, and so on.)

There are also two nice hotels inside the neighborhood of Lincoln Park, Hotel Lincoln and Hotel Versey. Each of them is less than a mile from the wedding venue, albeit with less generous rates than the Marriotts in River North are offering.

Getting to the Wedding

We will provide shuttle service between the Marriott hotels and the venue, both before and after the ceremony. Shuttle details will be provided closer to the wedding, so please check back for those.

The street on which Salvatore's is located is permit-parking only. Nearby Clark Street has metered parking, but spaces are not always available.

Happily, rideshares are abundant, and the average wait time when requesting from Lincoln Park or nearby neighborhoods is only about five minutes!

Salvatore's also offers valet parking for $30.

Pro Travel Tips

-Unless you are buying a multi-trip pass to save money, you don't need to get a CTA pass to use the L or bus. You can just tap your debit or credit card at the turnstile.

-Use the grid system! 800 address numbers is one mile. So if you need to get from 500 North to 2600 North (from the hotel to the wedding, basically), you are going 2.625 miles north.

-Every street that corresponds to a multiple of 400 will be a major street on which you can find transit and stores. E.g., Halsted Street is 800 West. Fullerton is 2400 North. You can count on finding ATMs, convenience stores, and buses on those streets.

-It generally takes about five minutes to walk the distance of 200 address numbers. So walking from 400 North to 800 North will take about ten minutes.

-Travel time to the airport is highly variable depending on the time of day you leave. It can be as quick as 20 minutes or as long as an hour, depending on traffic.

-Uber and Lyft are readily available. Average wait time is around five minutes.
