Whether you're here for a week or just the weekend, below you can find a few things we recommend checking out. Time listed is the driving time from the venue/lodging options.
SJ Nature Shop (15 min)
SJ Nature Shop is a cute local shop that carries a wide variety of high quality feeders, houses, baths, and seed, and well as many other nature-related gifts including books, puzzles, yard decor, and puppets! We highly recommend dropping in if you're looking to explore the area.
Clancy's Resale (15 min)
One of our favorite things to do in Missouri is wander through resale shops. This one has a very wide range of things to look through and is close to most lodging options!
Onondaga Cave State Park (30 min)
Short day hikes and cave tours!
Meramec State Park (40 min)
Day hikes with beautiful fall scenery.
If you are turning this into a longer road trip, we highly recommend checking out the Mark Twain National Forest, and a few things near Springfield and Branson.
Mark Twain National Forest (30 min - 3 hours)
The Mark Twain National Forest consists of six distinct ranger districts, encompassing a total of 1.5 million acres.
The Salem Ranger District is closest to the venue, with hikes as close as a 30-60 minute drive.
We work on the Houston Ranger District, with most hikes and lookouts being a 60-90 minute drive.
The Poplar Bluff, and Eleven Point/Doniphan Ranger Districts are furthest away but offer the best Missouri has to offer in terms of scenery, rivers, and Ozark mountain views.
Johnson's Shut-Ins State Park (1 hr 20 min)
Wonders Of Wildlife National Museum & Aquarium (2hr 15min)
This aquarium is combined with a Bass Pro shop. The Bass Pro store itself is a site to see, and the aquarium is great for both adults and kids!
TITANIC Museum Attraction (3hrs)
Branson has a lot to offer (it's like the Wisconsin Dells of the south!) but the Titanic Museum was particularly worth a stop.
