We shared several mutual friends during our teenage years and into adulthood, and while we often crossed paths at several events, we never formally connected.

(fun fact: we were also paired up together one time at a game night party but still did not connect lol).

Years later in 2015, both of us were attending a business meeting at Apron’s Restaurant, I guess you could call it fate because this was when we finally had an opportunity to say, “hello”.

Now here’s where the story varies

Lisa’s Story - I arrived at the restaurant and a mutual friend was seated with Joel. He extended an invitation for me to come sit with them and asked if Joel and I knew one another and quickly introduced us. Our mutual friend left the table, and Joel and I chatted about small things. I eventually heard Joel’s name being called and to my surprise he was one of the featured speakers. I thought to myself, ok he’s good looking and speaks well! LOL!

A friendship bloomed, however, we didn’t officially start dating until August 2016, and the rest is history!
