We met through a dating app - not very original but it brought us together, only to find that we lived just a few miles apart. Our first date was June 10th, 2021 and we’ve been happily together ever since.

We bonded over a love of travel, movies, and enjoying life. Somehow Derek fell for Lisa and her zoo, which at one point included three dogs and later two cats and less dogs. He seems to like all of them, despite some slightly curmudgeonly comments from time to time, and has been seen entertaining said animals when people are not looking.

Lisa was never a road trip girl until Derek introduced her to the backroads of Texas, providing colourful historical commentary, interesting stops (but little shopping) and plenty of great food and wine. Texas Hill Country has been one of our favourite spots, especially William Chris Winery outside Fredericksburg. We also share an enthusiasm for mild hiking, nature, travel (and planning it), New Orleans, comedy shows, live music and just about everything else.
