Our story started in 1992. Our moms worked together and were pregnant at the same time. Lisa was born in early July, and Lance was born in late August. We regularly had play-dates, and even had baby pictures taken together. A few years later, our families lost touch because Lisa's family moved to a new area.

Fast-forward to sixth grade. Lance and Lisa were in the same schools from sixth grade through the end of senior year. We knew who each other was, but never got to really know each other. We graduated and went our separate ways to college. Lisa went off to Texas Tech and Lance went off to Oklahoma Christian.

In January of 2011, Lance reached out to Lisa. We became long-distance friends that semester and decided to catch up when we both came back home for the summer. Lance already had a summer job, and was able to get a job for Lisa at the same place. Within just a few weeks of working together we were dating. We both thought it was just a summer fling and that it wouldn't be anything long-term. When it came time to go back to school in the fall, we decided to keep dating despite being so far apart. Lance visited Lisa several times at Texas Tech that semester, and eventually decided to transfer there. Everyone thought we were crazy because "there was no way it would work out"...

Two and a half years later, we both graduated from Texas Tech, and were still together. Who would have thought?! We moved back to Keller and started looking for jobs. A year later, Lisa went back to pursue a graduate degree and teaching certification while Lance got to work. Going back to school and looking for jobs was difficult, but having each other made it easier.

We went to Houston for spring break in March of 2016. We went to dinner and then to the rooftop of a hotel overlooking downtown Houston. As Lisa was looking out at the city, Lance quietly said "Lisa...". Lisa turned around and saw Lance down on one knee. He asked her to marry him, and of course she said "YES!"
