Lisa and Tucker met in the same way as many modern couples - through Bumble. It was January of 2021 and Lisa was in her second year of law school at Texas Tech. Tucker had just moved to Lubbock to pursue his Masters degree in wildlife ecology. The pandemic had been dragging on and both were ready to meet new people. Tucker swiped right because he liked Lisa's ambition, style, and witty profile. Lisa swiped right because Taylor Swift was one of his Top 5 artists on Spotify. After getting to know each other a bit, they shared their first beer together at Two Docs Brewery in Lubbock, Texas. Tucker recounts how he felt like he was being interviewed for a job - nervous, yet hopeful to make a good impression. Lisa was curious and excited to connect in person and recognizes that she may have come across a bit too serious.

After that first date, Lisa and Tucker felt an instant connection but it was too early to tell what that meant, so Lisa offered Tucker a second interview. Tucker invited Lisa over and made pasta - Lisa brought the wine. By the end of the evening, Tucker was totally smitten. Lisa, however, was hesitant to commit because she was focused on graduating and starting her career. When she broke the news to Tucker that she didn’t want to start anything serious, he was disappointed but was still happy to spend time together - no matter the title.

Nonetheless, fate has a funny way of intervening. On February 22nd around 5pm, Lisa got a call from Tucker… “Hey, how are you? Me? Not so good… umm… could you give me a ride to the hospital? I had an accident with the table saw.” Despite having just told Tucker that she didn’t want anything serious, here she was, driving him to the hospital, texting his moms, and picking up prescriptions for him. It was in this moment that Lisa realized that she cared for Tucker deeply. So naturally, Lisa had to set some boundaries and told Tucker “let’s take a week – things kinda ramped up quickly with the whole broken nose thing. I need some time to get my mind right.” Tucker was very understanding and since he was bedridden with two black eyes and a broken nose, he wasn’t exactly in the best condition to date anyways. After a week, Tucker invited Lisa for a walk in the park and the two have been taking walks in the park together ever since.

Lisa and Tucker finished school and began their life together in Santa Fe, New Mexico with their two cats, Ashrah and Ozzy. In October 2023, Tucker drove Lisa to the Caja del Rio to watch the Annular (“Ring of Fire”) Solar Eclipse. As the moon eclipsed the sun, a glowing golden ring appeared in the sky above them. Tucker took that as a sign to get down on one knee, present Lisa with a custom-made golden ring, and ask her to marry him. Before he could get the question out, she exclaimed “YES!". Tucker and Lisa often reflect on the way life brought them together and are excited to share their love and union with you all on their special day.
