In late January, Liz's dad was admitted to the hospital due to complications from COVID.&nbsp;After a few days, he was put on a ventilator.&nbsp;Those eight days were incredibly scary for the entire family, and we made the decision to postpone the wedding to April 2nd because we couldn't imagine doing it without him.&nbsp;&nbsp; The outpouring of support by friends and family was overwhelming and very much appreciated.&nbsp;Thankfully he has recently woken up and been taken off the ventilator, but continues to heal.&nbsp;Thank you for your love, patience, and understanding during this time!

Change of Plans

Our Wedding

On a Saturday night in early 2019, Rick received a message on OK Cupid that would change his life.&nbsp;He didn't know that at the time, of course.&nbsp;All he knew then was that he had a message from a beautiful woman, a profile he immediately remembered despite how many he had seen. Rick walked up to the entrance of the Iron Abbey at 6:42 pm on March 15th, 2019, to meet Liz for their first date.&nbsp;He texted her to let her know he was there, as he hadn't noticed her standing not ten feet in front of him.&nbsp;She replied with a text: "Look up."&nbsp;Rick did look up, and realized he hadn't recognized her because she was even more gorgeous than her pictures.&nbsp;He had just looked up and laid eyes on his future best friend, wife, and soul mate.&nbsp;And while&nbsp;he didn't know it then, if you had told him, he would have found it very easy to believe.

After the&nbsp;greatest first date in history, Rick found himself thinking about Liz more and more.&nbsp;The time they spent together was never enough.&nbsp;The weeks turned into months, and they soon became inseparable.&nbsp;It was a wonderful year full of firsts; the first birthdays spent together, the first Halloween, the first Christmas, the first "I love you's."&nbsp;Getting to know Liz was exciting, but he also felt as if he had already known her for a lifetime.&nbsp;He was hopelessly in love.

When 2020 arrived, it promised to be even better.&nbsp;It didn't go quite as planned.&nbsp;After an ill-timed March anniversary weekend in which the world crumbled around them in slow motion, the rest of the year was a blur.&nbsp;Exciting plans were cancelled.&nbsp;Holidays were cancelled or scaled back.&nbsp;So much of the fabric of daily life was changed; but in that terrible and fearful year, Liz was the glowing bright spot around which Rick built his sanity.&nbsp;Suddenly they were spending every day, all day together.&nbsp;Instead of driving them crazy, it brought them closer together.&nbsp;Instead of making them want to see less of each other, it reinforced just how much they enjoyed each other's company.&nbsp;Even within the nightmare dumpster fire hellscape that was 2020, moving in with and getting engaged to Liz were two of the greatest things to ever happen to Rick.

As they embark upon the next stage of their journey together, Rick is thankful that he met Liz before society began fully collapsing in on itself.&nbsp;In an uncertain world, his love for Liz is all the&nbsp;certainty that he needs.
