We had our first date at a Mexican restaurant in Downtown Greenville. As we sat across from each other, I asked Jake 101 questions about his family, childhood, what kind of man he is, and his faith. While he answered each question as well as I could have hoped, I figured he thought I was crazy. Afterwards, we sat in his truck and talked while I watched the nervous guy who picked me up that evening begin to open up.
Shortly after we planned our second date to a mountain top an hour and a half away called pretty place (pictured above). While we sat there talking and looking at the cross and mountain scenery, all I could think of is how in the world did I get to be the girl sitting next to a guy like Jake on a date.
After the second date, we were inseparable. I watched God move in our relationship in remarkable ways. When Jake would drop me off at the end of our dates and I’d walk back into my apartment with the biggest smile, all I could think about was how God had provided the man I had prayed for every night.
I fell in love with Jake early on, but I knew He was the one God wanted me to marry when I was riding in the car while he was driving. He told me about a verse he was reading in the book of Matthew the night before. While I watched the passion on his face while He spoke about Jesus, I knew God had delivered on a prayer and brought me the man I would spend the rest of my life with. Watching the man Jake is and the way he loves not only me, but the people he encounters with a heart like we are called to have, I continue to fall more and more in love with him.
I asked Jake when he knew I was the person he wanted to marry. He said it was the first day we sat across from each other at the Mexican restaurant and I asked him 101 questions. When I asked him when he knew I was the woman God wanted him to marry, he said it was when he realized that God brought me into his life to deepen his faith and make him want to be a man more like Jesus.
And now we are GETTING MARRIED!!!!!
