Located in Forest Park, the zoo is one of Liz's favorite places in St. Louis, to the point where she brought Noah and some of his friends there when they were passing through on a road trip senior year of college - despite the fact that it was early January and most of the animals were taking shelter indoors. Everyone very much enjoyed seeing the polar bear and getting very close to the penguins anyways!
The city museum is what you would get if you commissioned a modern/avant-garde artist to create a 6 story indoor-outdoor playground. It's a fun place to wander around and one of the best places to play tag you could think of.
The best Brewery in St. Louis, and a Rill family favorite. Great place to grab a beer and a snack. After Liz and Noah lived with the Rills for 3 months, when they drove back out east they brought 3 cases of Schlafly Pale Ale in the car with them.
The "other brewery" in St. Louis, the tours are pretty cool and you can try Budweiser right from the source! The beer garden at the end is pretty great too.
The Missouri Botanical garden is on of Cynthia's favorite places in the city as a self-avowed plant lover. It has over 79 acres of display including a Japanese strolling garden, a geodesic dome conservatory, and an English Woodland Garden (among many options).
Located atop "Art Hill" overlooking the "Grand Basin" reflecting pool, the art museum holds a special place in Liz's heart after many visits with her paternal grandmother, Laverna Meyer. The museum has over ten thousand feet of exhibit space and is a great visit if you are interested in the visual arts. Admission is free.
Located next to the Chase Park Plaza, Forest Park contains many great attractions including the St. Louis Zoo, the Art Museum, a golf course, and more! Aside from the attractions specifically mentioned separately, the Jewel Box is a unique structure housing a small greenhouse, and the St. Louis Science Center and Missouri History Museum may also be of interest.
An "arcade bar", what more could you want? Pinball machine, skee-ball, arcade fighters, beer, drinks, pizza, and more! Located in the "Central West End", a neighborhood close to the Chase with a plethora of food and bar options.
Located at the northwestern corner of Forest Park a few blocks from Washington University in St. Louis, "the Loop" is a strip of restaurants, bars, and attractions with a deep history. St. Louis and rock n' roll icon Chuck Berry performed at restaurant and music club Blueberry Hill every month between 1996 and 2014, and a statue of him stands nearby. The Moonrise Hotel's rooftop bar is a great place to visit when the weather permits, and Salt n' Smoke BBQ is a family favorite. Also highly recommended are U-City Grill and a root beer from Fitz's.
See a movie without even leaving the hotel!
