Lizzie and I met when we first started college at Saint Louis University. Despite living twenty minutes apart (fifteen minutes if Lizzie is driving) our whole lives we never knew each other before we each moved away to Saint Louis. Even then, I almost let our freshman year go by without ever truly getting to know her. We had our first dance February 2013 and I finally saw her the way I do now. Only Lizzie can be so simultaneously goofy, awkward, elegant and beautiful at the same time. I texted her that same night saying I really liked her and wanted to get to know her better&hellip;I didn’t exactly play it cool. Luckily, I never do. It’s been well over four years and I still feel I have a lot to learn about Lizzie and so much more of life to experience with her. I’m ecstatic to know we’ve only just scratched the surface of our lives together and I can’t wait to see what our future together holds.

In Between Ceremony/Reception

We grew up in the area and spent almost every date on college breaks in Downtown Naperville so you could say we’re pretty familiar with the hot spots. Here are a few of our favorites to check out between the ceremony and reception! (Downtown Naperville is exactly 2.0 miles from Saint Raphael, about a 7 minute drive.)

Snacks:





Cookie Dough Creations- YUM! Ice cream and cookie dough. We will judge you if you get ice cream without cookie dough. 







Naper Nuts and Sweets- old fashioned candy, fudge and popcorn! You’ll smell it down the block. Wine Bar 64- good apps/small plates. We recommend the flatbread! 







Alcohol Drinks:





Wine Bar 64- 64 different wines and beers to taste! It’s a fun walk around/interactive place with wine dispensers to taste as many as you want! Also, there’s a balcony overlooking the river.







Jimmy’s Grill- Naperville’s summer go-to. Big patio and live music!







Others- Naperville Ale Fest @ Naper Settlement, Quincy’s, Lantern, Empire, Features (most have good outdoor/rooftop seating)







Coffee Drinks:





Sparrow- Shoutout to Uncle Jimmy McFarland who is the Director of Operations! It’s the best coffee you’ll ever have and super cute inside.







Fancy Starbs- We have a Starbucks Reserve store. It’s very Naperville.







Things to do:





Riverwalk- Our most repeated date night is getting ice cream from Cookie Dough and then walking along the riverwalk. Great spots for pictures!







Anderson’s Bookshop- This is where we go when waiting for a table at Lou Malnati’s. Or to buy each new Harry Potter book as they came out.







Shopping- Ulta, Anthropologie, J Crew, Loft, Sephora, MAC, Apple etc.







Historical Sites:





Gazebo- Behind the Kroehler Family YMCA there is an adorable little gazebo where Matthew proposed! If you want to reenact the scene, do a waltz while singing a rap song.







Naper settlement- Civil War era interactive outdoor museum. This is where all the Naperville kids learn to churn butter. Only July 14 they are having a blacksmith class and also Naperville Ale Fest!
