Tom and Lizzy met while Tom was hosting quiz at the Canyon's Crown. Lizzy originally came to quiz as a guest of a co-worker (thanks Shannon!) in 2014 and Tom had already been a host for a while and was balancing two different quizzes on top of being a teacher by day.

Fast forward to 2016 where Lizzy had a constant quiz team and had gotten the courage to friend request the cute quiz master on Facebook. Tom still had no idea who Lizzy was but she admired him from a distance and enjoyed talking to him when he would come take team pictures.

That December, Tom put out onto the Facebook world a request for someone to see Rogue One with him. Lizzy had already seen it but offered to go again. For a few months later, they would often go to movies together as movie buddies.

Movie theater movies turned into movie marathons at Tom's house and finally during Spring Break 2017. Tom invited Lizzy to do a movie marathon that started before quiz, and continued after quiz. While watching the last movie of the night, Alien, Tom decided to make it official and asked Lizzy to become his girlfriend.

Together they have 5 cats (Ripley, Samwise, Winston, Atticus, and Bellatrix) and a wonderful leopard gecko, Newt. They have lived together for 6 and a half years and have survived the many ups and downs of a long-term relationship.

They survived the Covid isolation as well as actually getting Covid at different times. Tom supported Lizzy when she had emergency gallbladder surgery in 2017 and Lizzy supported Tom when he lost his mother in 2022.

Tom and Lizzy enjoy playing board games, video games and going to National Parks together (sometimes bringing Ripley with them). They enjoy spending time in Phoenix with Tom's wonderful family and have weekly Sunday night dinners with Lizzy's mom. They continue to go to quiz every Thursday (especially since Tom is still the host).
