Makenzi and Logan first knowingly crossed paths in May of 2021, even though we had gone to school with each other’s siblings for years. From our first conversation, we both knew we had a special connection and have been as inseparable as it gets from 300 miles away since. You can ask just about any of our friends, and they will tell you that we spent A LOT of time on the phone in the beginning, getting to know each other. Although our love story might be similar to most, it is special to both of us in a different way, long-distance. Through the nearly two years since meeting and getting to know each other, we would take turns making trips to see each other from Dallas to Lubbock, meeting in the middle, and going on mini vacations. At first, it was great! With long distance comes making the most of every moment you get to spend together and creating the most special memories. With Logan at work and Makenzi focusing on school, our busy schedules made it seem like the weekends were just a moment away. However, when you develop a genuine relationship with and love for someone you can’t see daily, the moments turn into hours. The hours turn into days. The days turn into counting the clock until we can see each other again. Though it might seem terrible (and it was), our distance-based craziness revealed two important things to both of us: we were all in and willing to embrace the struggle of long distance to create the wonderful relationship we have today. After some adjustments to our social and professional lives, we began to make things work. But it is safe to say we are looking forward to not having to drive over 300 miles to spend time with one another. The many experiences we have had together since meeting will be ones that we look back on and think fondly about. These are experiences we are excited to share with our children, our grandchildren, our families, and each of you.

With that being said, we could not be more excited to spend the rest of our lives together, and we hope you can make it to celebrate with us. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we start our lives together!
