<p>Logan and I both worked at BuzzFeed in the fall of 2013. Logan likes to say that he had a crush on me for a few months but let the record show that I was the one to make the first move. Logan published a story called <a href="https://www.buzzfeed.com/mrloganrhoades/24-reasons-why-hockey-players-are-actually-big-cuddly-sweeth?utm_term=.ybzWppGaE#.utVeAAdbQ">"24 reasons why hockey players are actually big, cuddly sweethearts"</a> and it was all over my Facebook news feed (#canadians) over the weekend. It was also the first sports story from BuzzFeed to get over 1 million views and the NHL even tweeted about it. But I digress...</p><p>The following Monday, I messaged Logan and simply said "Dude, your hockey story is blowing up!" I know, so clever right?! Even though we had never talked one-on-one, we had seen each other around the office so I figured he would have some idea of who I was. A few exchanges back-and-forth (including some trash talk because my  Toronto Maple Leafs had actually beaten his Chicago Blackhawks 7-2 the previous weekend) and I knew this was something special. Two weeks later, on January 1, we had our first date. We watched the Winter Classic and never looked back. </p><p>We moved in together in June 2015 and on August 13, 2016, Logan proposed. It was the best day of my life and I can't wait to build a lifetime of memories with him. #teamLAforever.</p>

<p>It wasn't love at first sight, but it was close to that. I knew Augusta was "the one" after our first date: a day date at her apartment to watch The Winter Classic hockey game. I know that sounds surreal, but it is honestly the truth. It took one date.<br><br>Let's go back to the beginning.<br><br>Augusta and I met at BuzzFeed. We never actually worked together, but back in 2013, BuzzFeed wasn't that big, so we sort of knew of each other (we just hadn't really talked). A few weeks before Christmas, I wrote a post that went viral about "why hockey players are actually big, cuddly sweethearts." Augusta apparently saw that post and decided to message me about it. And we haven't stopped talking since. (Fun Fact: I love saying that last part, and it is also very true.)<br><br>Augusta made the first move by messaging me, but I had a little crush on her before that, so even though she beat me to it, we were going to talk one way or another. I just had to build up the courage.<br><br>Anyway, we talked all throughout Christmas break that year (there were butterflies every time my phone showed her name), so by the time our first date came around (January 1), I knew she was special. And I was right.<br><br>On the morning of August 13 (the number 13 is both Augusta and my favorite number), I proposed to Augusta. It was the best day of my life.</p>

Meredith (aka Mere) is my baby sister and MOH. She is 5 years younger than me and 1 million times cooler than me. She's also taller, smarter, funnier... the list goes on. I BEGGED my parents for a baby sister. I was so excited when she was finally born (despite my parents not naming her Chloe like I had requested) Fast forward to Mere's second day home from the hospital and reality quickly began to set in: my only child days were over. I turned to my mom and said "Take her back where she came from because no one is paying attention to me." Not a good look. Luckily I soon realized that having a sibling was awesome and am so grateful that Mere is mine. Mere graduated from the University of San Diego and now lives in Newport Beach. If you're wondering whether her day-to-day life is cooler than yours, the answer is yes. Fun fact: Mere is the biggest Toronto Maple Leafs fan you'll ever meet and is also insanely competitive. Attending a sporting event with Mere is an experience you will never forget. 

Meredith Mellon

Kelly is my oldest friend. We met at Branksome in grade 1 so our friendship spans 23 years. This means we have more inside jokes than we can possibly keep track of. She is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. Kelly lives in Toronto but lucky for me, her sister lives in NYC so I get to see her at least a few times a year.Fun fact: Kelly rarely calls people by their real name but if she gives you a nickname it means she really likes you so just roll with it. 

Kelly Radke

Katie and I met in grade 4. She was new and the smartest in the class (I'll let her tell you about her advanced math booklet) We clicked right away and have been BFFs for the last 20 years. She is ridiculously smart and is a high powered lawyer in Toronto. Her parents are also incredibly generous and were the hosts of our engagement party.Fun fact: Katie's Hollywood crush is Sean Connery and if you try to tell her that he is not the best James Bond...well, don't say I didn't warn you. 

Katie Higgins

Steph started at Branksome in grade 7 and even though we weren't in the same homeroom, we became fast friends. She is my most fashionable friend and also the funniest. I also have to credit her with introducing me to every John Hughes movie. Without Steph, grade 12 Biology and World Geography would have been pretty miserable (although we may both have ended up with better grades if we didn't talk through class) She lives in Toronto.Fun fact: Steph has an amazing singing voice and can also recite the entire movie "Clueless" verbatim. 

Steph Atin

Katie is an honorary Mellon girl and my unofficial big sister. Seriously we look so much alike that I'm sure you will wonder "I thought Augusta only had 1 sister?" Katie and I met when we were both figure skating at the Leaside Skating Club. Katie is 2 years older and her clique and my clique didn't quite get along. But then the spring Carnival show rolled around and we were in charge of getting snacks for rehearsals. A friendship was born. Katie lives in Toronto with her husband Will and their son Andrew (aka Shawsy aka the cutest little guy ever)Fun fact: Katie was the only person who could get Mere to participate in skating lessons. Clearly she has magical powers. 

Katie Bradley

My brother and The Best Man! Sean and his wife, Lizzy, live in Atlanta, Georgia. Their little daughter, Sloan, is my goddaughter and one of the flower girls.Sean works as a Consultant at Deloitte, so he is infinitely more responsible than I am. (It's always been that way, though).Fun Fact: Sean is a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity (and a big part of why I joined that fraternity)

Sean Rhoades

I've known Ben for pretty much my whole life (we grew up on the same block), and then he became my stepbrother. He just might be the sweetest man I know. He is also very tall. Like, 6'5" or something.Fun Fact: Ben is a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity

Austin was my random roommate in college who turned into my best friend. We lived together all fours years in college, then for a year in Los Angeles, and then for a short time in Illinois before I moved to New York. He now lives in the suburbs of Chicago with his wife, Gloria, and his new baby, Hannah.Fun Fact: Austin is a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity

Aaron was my roommate in college for three years. He was drinking wine while the rest of us were still drinking light beer, so needless to say, he's always been a step ahead. He is probably the most reliable person I know and he is sneaky good at Jeopardy.Fun Fact: Aaron is a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity

Aaron Motsinger

Neil lived across the hall from Austin and I during our freshman year in college. After two years of pranks and partying together, Neil became my fourth roommate in college during my junior and senior years.It is quite possible that Neil will become the richest man of us all by inventing something that none of us understand.Fun Fact: The initials for his fake ID in college were "APK," which is why you might hear me call him that. (He is also an honorary member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity...at least for the University of Texas chapter)

Seraphina is the daughter of my cousin Aurora and I am lucky enough to be her Godfather. — LoganFun Fact: Seraphina is a veteran flower girl and will definitely show Sloan the best techniques for gently dropping flowers.
