It's wonderful how life's journey brings two people together, even across the miles and through life's challenges.
HERS
Our paths first crossed as teenagers in Providence, Rhode Island. Loreal would spend summers there with Aunt Charlotte and Uncle Neil. Those were the days filled with Kingdom Hall park talks, conventions, and beach gatherings. We would often go to Newport Creamery or Del's Frozen Lemonade after meetings.
And then, we grew up...
What better way to reconnect than with the family that introduced us as teenagers? In 2017, we all came together to celebrate Auntie and Uncle’s 50th wedding anniversary.
Despite the 1,300 miles between us, we weathered the dating storm. What was that like? There was a pandemic, the loss of dear family members, and a massive hurricane, but here we are! This union will bring together Gene, Justin (Anamarie), Jesse (Sharleita), Jasmine, Joseph III, Joshua, Kameren, Jaylen, and soon-to-be Brooke.
What does Loreal love about Joseph?
“He’s charming… he’s easy-going. He loves me, my children, and my grandchildren. He loves his family hard. He’s hardworking, trustworthy, loyal… With his honey brown eyes... I feel safe with him. And most of all, his love for Jehovah. I know that this will be a beautiful threefold cord.”
HIS
I remember the first time I met Loreal at the Kingdom Hall in Providence, RI. I knew she was the one the moment I laid eyes on her. She wore a beautiful purple dress, and all of us teenage guys couldn’t stop talking about her. We had so much fun at the park talks at Colt State Park.
Some time passed, and I hadn’t seen Loreal in a while. I recall giving a talk at the Kingdom Hall when I looked up and saw her in the audience. I tripped and stumbled over my words.
Thirty years later, we met again at Auntie and Uncle’s anniversary party. I couldn’t believe she was there. We talked and became the best of friends.
What I love about Loreal is that she embodies the true definition of a real woman. She is always happy, loves children, loves her family, and, most of all, loves Jehovah. I am the happiest man in the world right now. Knowing we will spend the rest of our lives together is light years beyond a dream come true for me.
