Paul and Lori lived less than a quarter of a mile from each other in the same neighborhood. In September 2015, Lori took her son, Jack, around the neighborhood selling popcorn for Cub Scouts. Paul kindly bought some popcorn. Lori had also just started her real estate business and used this opportunity as a reason to send handwritten notecards to all who had purchased popcorn (since she had names and addresses for those people), thanking them for supporting Jack's fundraising efforts and informing them that she was in real estate and would love to help them with any of their real estate needs. Unbeknownst to her at the time, Paul thought Lori was hitting on him with this note. Over the course of the next three months, they exchanged texts about real estate. Paul had informed Lori that he used to flip houses and if he ever got back into it, he would keep her in mind. Lori would text him houses in the hopes of making her first sale. In early January, Lori mustered the courage to ask Paul if there was anyone else she should include in her mailings to him (what she thought was her clever way of finding out if he was married or with someone), to her relief he said no. Then he suggested they meet for a drink sometime. They went to the BBC on January 16, 2016 and had a perfect first date, ending with the sweetest little kiss (after discussing first date "protocol"). They continued having weekly dates while both insisting they did not want a serious relationship. Finally after six months, they realized that they were in a full blown relationship and had been for awhile so there was no use denying it. On May 24, 2018, Paul asked Lori to marry him. Once they began planning their wedding and landed on August 15, 2020 as their date, Lori learned that her parents had also shared that wedding date in 1975. Lori's father passed away when she was three years old, so she had no memories of her parents celebrating this day, so the fact that she can share this special day, makes her feel a connection with her dad. Paul and Lori plan to reside in their antique house nestled on 22 acres in Ossipee, NH and enjoy farm life at its finest once the kids have graduated!
Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, we have decided to move our wedding to next summer. Our new wedding date is 8/14/21. Whitney's Inn will move everyone's reservation and deposit over to the new date.
It looks like we are for sure moving forward this year! We will follow the guidelines set forth by the Whitney's Inn and the state of NH (which seem to be fairly loose, thankfully). We will not be enforcing masks so wear them if you want, but we will not be wearing them ourselves. As of right now, the only guidelines are to wear a mask if you have more than 100 people indoors (we do not) and wear a mask when ordering from the bar (however, the owner suspects both of those guidelines will be gone by August). The owner is gracious and will work with you if the new weekend doesn't work and you need a refund (or if you do not feel comfortable coming). Otherwise, we will see you in four months!!!
