Our Wedding

According to Mr. Shakespeare the course of true love never did run smooth. Thus it was with Lórien and Brian. Lórien had been taking flying lessons at the Fairfield County Airport for a few months when a young flight instructor (Brian) casually said “Hi” as they passed each other in the pilot’s lounge. Lórien, who was shy and didn’t like dealing with the unwanted male attention she regularly endured in college, sort of squeaked a reply and promptly ran outside and hid in her car. An inauspicious beginning to say the least. TWO YEARS LATER (remember covid), Brian once again said something like “Hi” in the pilot’s lounge. This time, Lórien managed a coherent response. As they chatted, Brian mentioned he was about to take a flight in the schools’ Piper Arrow, and would Lórien like to come along? Expecting a fifteen or twenty-minute flight, Lórien agreed to come. Brian, however, had other ideas, and flew them to Mrytle Beach where he asked her to dinner. Was that a date, Lórien wondered later? Things progressed. In July Brian and his younger brother and sister were planning to attend the world-famous air show in OshKosh, Wisconsin. Would Lórien like to come? The answer, of course, was yes. Brian and Lórien flew to OshKosh together in the Arrow, rendezvoused with his brother and sister who flew in separately, and set up to camp for the nextfive days of the show. Unfortunately, it rained repeatedly, which made camping pretty uncomfortable for the four of them. It was a good way, however, for Brian and Lórien to get to know each other under fairly trying circumstances.By the time they flew home, friendship had become love.Hence this wedding.
