In May of 2019, Lucas and Ashtyn met at Gospel of The Kingdom Campground during a youth meeting. Since then, they formed a friendship that would grow into something more over the next few months.

Over Labor Day weekend in that same year, they started dating at the general meeting in Louisville, Kentucky. With Lucas being from Illinois, and Ashtyn from Kansas, they started the first two years of their relationship long distance.
In 2021, they realized that God had plans for Lucas to move to Kansas City.
God continued to bless their relationship when Lucas took this leap of faith.
