Q + A

Our wedding ceremony will be included in a full nuptial Mass. Catholic wedding ceremonies are typically between an hour and fifteen minutes to an hour and thirty minutes in length. We understand not everyone attending the wedding is Catholic, follow along best you can, we are happy to have you with us. If you need to leave the church at any point, please do so quietly with as little disruption as possible and exit from the outside edge of the pew if possible.

As Catholics we believe in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. If you are not Catholic or are not spiritually prepared to receive Communion, you are welcome to walk up for a blessing instead. Please indicate to the priest you will not be receiving Communion by crossing your arms over your shoulders or by placing your index finger in front of your lips.

Out of reverence for our Lord, during the ceremony please silence electronic devices and refrain from bringing food or drinks into the church.

If you are attending the wedding with children please refrain from bringing toys that make noise or light up. Furthermore we politely ask parents to exit the church if children become loud or upset.

What Is The Dress Code?

Semi-Formal or "Sunday Best" attire suggested. Our wedding ceremony will be held in a Catholic church. Out of respect for the sacrament of marriage and the presence of our Lord, please be mindful of hemlines & necklines, and refrain from wearing shorts & jeans. Consider suits or collared shirts & ties for gentlemen, and floor length, midi, or cocktail dresses or skirts for ladies. Attire more formal is welcome.

What Time Should I Arrive?

Our ceremony begins at one o'clock in the afternoon. We recommend arriving between 20 and 30 minutes early to allow time for parking and finding your seat.

Where Should I Park?

For the ceremony there is limited metered street parking along side the church as well as a parking garage one block East of the church at the corner of 17th and R street. For the reception The Graduate has its own parking garage. The turns inside the garage are quite tight, consider bringing your smallest vehicle for easier maneuvering. There are also parking meters through out the Haymarket area.

Can I Take Pictures?

During the ceremony we will have a professional photographer taking photos. Please leave all personal cell phones, cameras, and other electronic devices put away to keep an atmosphere of reverence in the Mass and minimize distractions. Feel free to take pictures after the ceremony and at the reception!

What Should I Do Between The Ceremony & Reception

We will not be seeing each other before our wedding so please allow for the "Catholic Gap" between the end of the ceremony and start of the reception for us to take pictures. See the "Things To Do" tab for ideas to fill the time.

May I Bring A Plus One or Children?

We would love to celebrate with everyone but unfortunately due to limitations of the space, we are only able to accommodate guests formally listed on the invitation. If your child/children are not on the invitation, enjoy a night out as a couple.

Where Should I Stay?

We are have a room block at The Graduate Lincoln for out of town guests.
