Both Lucas and I's moms, as well as Shelly Henderson (family friend) worked VERY hard to get us to meet. Neither of us were interested in meeting each other, so it took a lot of convincing and a surprise visit to my restaurant job for us to finally meet.
Lucas's mom had to drag him to White Dog where I was working one night and little did he know I was going to be his waitress that night. I too was blindsided when my mom and Shelly were saving a big table for extra people to join. In walked Lucas, his mom, his sister and her children and I got extremely nervous. I thought he was VERY handsome, and the only thing he said to me that night was "could I get a side of ranch?"
I figured he wasn't interested, but a week later, he reached out and asked me to go on a golf date with him, and we've been inseparable ever since!
Lucas and I came into each other's lives at the perfect time. We have very different interests and likes, but they say opposites attract! It makes our relationship fun and keeps it interesting.
Only a few months in, we were at a hockey game and spent the entire time talking. I don't think we even knew who won the game, but I knew that night I wanted to spend my life with him. On our year anniversary, I finally mustered up the courage to tell him I loved him. Thank goodness he felt the same way!
About a week before our two year anniversary, he popped the question. I was extremely surprised, but there was no doubt in my mind that I wanted Lucas to be my husband.
