Guatemala is known as the "land of the eternal spring." You'll be welcomed with gorgeous warm spring temperatures in Guatemala City and Antigua. At the wedding venue in Antigua the weather should be beautiful. with temperatures averaging between 17*C-25*C. It will get chilly at night, so please bring some warm layers for the evening like a light sweater. The wedding ceremony and reception will be mountain-side but don't worry, there will be heaters :). Depending on where else you go in Guatemala the weather will be different. For example, Petén in the north where the Mayan pyramids are located, is a tropical forest with hot (28*C+) and humid weather, while Lake Atitlán is temperate and less humid. IF YOU PLAN ON HIKING, you'll need warm layers, a beanie, gloves, and hiking shoes.

While credit cards are accepted at hotels, and restaurants/stores in areas with a more developed tourist infrastructure, we recommend bringing cash. The official currency of Guatemala is quetzal (Q). US Dollars are accepted in most places but be sure to have local currency on hand.

There is lots to see and do! How long you choose to stay depends on what you'd like to do. We don't recommend spending a lot of time in Guatemala City but using Antigua as your travel hub instead. You can easily book tours and transportation to Petén, Lake Atitlán, and the beach from there. If you can, spend a good amount of time in Antigua. The town will quickly charm you.
