Hagen and Lucie met while Lucie was completing her Bachelor’s degree at Long Beach State University. She was in a sorority, and he was playing his second season of professional baseball. The two were introduced by two of their best friends, whose wedding they were both a part of last year. Hagen paid for Lucie’s coffee, and she was smitten! He asked her out on a proper date later that week, and the rest is history. Hagen left for baseball season only 2 months later, and they began their journey into long distance love. For the past 5 years, Lucie has traveled back and forth from west coast to east coast to watch Hagen play baseball. They have visited many cities, countless ballparks, and taken dozens of flights from coast to coast. Lucie was able to attend Hagen’s major league debut last summer in Toronto, one of the most exciting moments for the couple! Soon after, Hagen decided it was time to propose. He designed and ordered her ring, and couldn’t wait any longer to pop the question. Hagen proposed to Lucie on December 8th, 2023 in her hometown, San Clemente, on the beach during sunset. It was the most perfect surprise. The two will spend the year between California and Buffalo, New York enjoying baseball season and wedding planning!
