Our Wedding

Our story begins with a text...

September 26, 2023 - Where it all started. Lucy drew the short straw and had to take me to a Chi Omega silent disco date party. Fun night. I overanalyzed a text, freaked out, and didn’t text her for another 16 days.

October 17, 2023 - Our friends, however, were smarter than I was. Many of them, (Miller, Claire, Carter), decided that I needed to ask Lucy out on a date, so I asked the big question after RUF.

October 21, 2023 - We had our very first date. I took her to a coffee shop (Lucy doesn’t like coffee) and walked around the farmers' market (I didn’t buy her a thing). Obviously, Lucy was hooked. (Photo taken by Rachel who spotted us)

November 17, 2023 - After several dates and Weigel’s milk trips (Lucy doesn’t drink milk), she finally agreed to be my girlfriend.

February 14, 2024 - Spent our first Valentine’s Day not going out to a super fancy restaurant, but attending an Ash Wednesday service. Another great move by me.

April 19, 2024 - First Chi O formal!

Summer 2024 - Spent the majority of the summer apart. Lucy was at Kamp, and I was home working. Lots of FaceTimes, letters, and book talks kept us feeling emotionally close despite the physical distance.

Fall 2024 - Months were filled with lots of Thursday morning coffee dates, date parties, earning the approval of the Purple House roommates, study dates in the library, and cheering on the Vols in Neyland.

Spring 2025 - Lots of long runs together in preparation for the Knoxville half-marathon. Edit: Yes, Lucy beat me. (I added that in completely on my own, it was not Lucy’s idea at all).

June 2025 - Lucy and I spent the month 4,500 miles apart as I was in Chile and she was in Nashville. Can confirm that distance does make the heart grow fonder. On the bright side, this gave me plenty of alone time to start planning a proposal.

October 10, 2025 - The big day. I needed to surprise Lucy, which required elaborate planning. Said planning consisted of fake concert tickets, a last-minute hospital shift pickup, stealthy errand running, and finally a “spontaneous” walk in the park with Miller. Lucy, dressed in her all black Lululemon ninja outfit, was totally surprised. Plan was executed perfectly - thanks to months of stress and many brave secret keepers. Lucy “would not have changed a thing”. Writing that down to show her the next time she doubts my planning abilities.

The night was spent celebrating with amazing family and friends. A perfect end to a perfect day. So much joy! Let the countdown to May 29 begin!
