Christopher trained me in on my first day as a volunteer at the Minnesota Children's Museum. I remember this as the day I met a cool guy, and he jokingly proposed to me with a craft pipe-cleaner ring because one of the kids visiting the museum asked if we were married. I said yes. Christopher does not remember this, and remembers training me in as the day that he got to use a walkie-talkie for the first time. - Lucy

Years later we reconnected over our shared love of photography and spent a day walking around St. Paul taking photos. Lucy was in a relationship at the time but after that day I went back to campus and told all my friends that I would marry her someday.

Christopher and I went on our first of many road trips up north, and kissed for the first time by a campfire on the shore of Lake Superior. It was a great trip, and my face hurt from how much he made me laugh all weekend. - Lucy

Lucy did her undergrad in Rochester, NY so most of our early relationship was long distance. However, I was lucky enough to fly out and visit her a handful of times and each trip was memorable and so much fun. This photo is from my first visit. - Chris

I told Christopher I loved him for the first time on one of his visits to Rochester. We spent a beautiful fall day together taking photos around the city and visiting the farmers market, where we got chai lattes and he surprised me with flowers. - Lucy

Our first time flying together was to California. The trip was incredible, relaxing, and special. We both decided that a lifetime of this wouldn't be too bad and joked during one of the many gorgeous sunsets that I should have proposed. - Chris

Just after Christmas, we packed up and moved across the world together to pursue our masters degrees at the University of Glasgow. Deciding to make this leap together felt very big, but I am so thankful that we did it together because we had so many amazing experiences in the year we spent in Glasgow. Christopher is the best travel buddy, and could not have imagined doing this without him. - Lucy

Spending a year in another country, during a pandemic, while being back in school full time really strengthened our bond as a couple. We got a preview of what a life fully together would look like and there was no going back. Getting Master's degrees was a nice bonus! - Chris

After school, we moved back to St. Paul and excitedly started putting down roots in Minnesota. After first being long distance, from each other, and then from our families and friends, it was great to be back home in a neighborhood that we love. - Lucy

I proposed to Lucy a little after midnight on a frozen White Bear Lake. The weather predicted that the northern lights would be visible near the Twin Cities so we spent all night driving around trying to catch a glimpse. I was planning on proposing in the summer but brought the ring along anyway in case we found them. We didn't end up seeing them but by that point I had been psyching myself up to propose. Lucy did see a shooting star and when I asked what she wished for she said "to be happy with you forever" and I took that chance to propose. - Chris
