After much consideration, we have made the heartbreaking decision to cancel our wedding celebration. We're happily legally married, and moving on to the next phase in our lives together. We wish we could have celebrated with you! Xo L+L
Liv and Lucy met for the first time in October 2014 at Equinox Flatiron in New York City. Lucy walked into her first intenSati class, not knowing anyone, and Liv was working for the company at the time. Though that was the first time they were in the same room, they wouldn't become friends for almost another year.
In the fall of 2015, Lucy began spending more time with girls from intenSati, including Liv. They'd all work out together, grab a bit to eat, and get together for drinks. The group grew closer, and Liv and Lucy became fast friends.
They shared an affinity for dance classes, creative outlets, mindful entrepreneurship, pad thai and even had a similar taste in men, thinking at the time that they'd both end up with a groom someday. As time passed, the two became inseparable, spending several days a week together scheming plans for raising consciousness and watching musicals on Netflix
In November, 2016, Lucy invited Liv to come celebrate Thanksgiving with her family, since everyone was leaving New York City and she didn't want Liv to spend the holiday alone. They spent a few days in Lucy's hometown of Newburyport, MA and a family feast with 20 of Lucy's relatives before heading up to her mom's house in Appleton, ME.
The beginning of the trip was as normal as ever; Lucy and Liv had fun exploring as the best friends that they had grown to be. On the ride up to Maine, Lucy's brother Nico claims to have felt that something was different between the two of them, but he didn't say anything quite yet. As the whole group was out to dinner, Lucy's mom Libby thought to herself "If Liv wasn't a woman, I would think they're falling in love," but kept it to herself.
Lucy and Liv were enjoying themselves, and at this point completely oblivious as to what was unfolding. It wasn't until the car ride back home that night, when Liv grabbed Lucy's hand and they both felt electricity course through their veins, that they both realized that something had shifted between them.
The next morning, they both knew something massive had happened in each of their hearts, and though they were both scared of what the other was thinking, they shared how they were feeling. Lucy said to Liv "I love you. I love your heart." and Liv's own heart cracked open. They both knew in that moment that their souls had joined, and they both felt true love for the first time.
Ever since that day, November 26, 2016, they've been head-over-heels in love, completely inseparable, and attached at the heart and soul.
Lucy and Liv spent the summer of 2019 in Liv's hometown of Lugano, Switzerland and travelled often to Zurich in Switzerland, Barcelona in Spain, Milan, Umbria and Piemonte in Italy, and Cannes and Saint-Tropez in France.
What Liv didn't know, is that Lucy had her own adventure planned, and had a custom-made ring sent to Switzerland so that she could ask Liv to marry her.
In the middle of a packed week with lots of work for Lucy and lots of family time for Liv, Lucy asked Liv if she'd be up for spending a day at Lake Como, 30 minutes away.
Liv said it was their only day at home that week. Lucy said please. Liv said she was tired of traveling. Lucy said please. Liv said we don't have a car to take us. Lucy said please. Liv said the weather will be overcast. Lucy said please.
And as often happens, Liv knows when Lucy has her mind set on something, and despite anything else, she says "Of course, baby."
Lucy told Liv that she had planned a day date for the two of them at Villa del Balbianello, one of the most stunning villas with gorgeous gardens and breathtaking views. Liv had never been there, and loved spending time together, walking the grounds, taking photos and stealing romantic moments.
After seeing nearly everything, Lucy brought Liv to a vine-covered balcony overlooking the lake and started to tell Liv how much she loved her, how happy she was to live and grow with her, and how she wanted to be with her forever. As tears started to pour down her face, Liv understood what was happening, and understood why Lucy had been so insistent on coming.
Completely overtaken with emotion, Lucy pulled out the yellow sapphire and diamond ring, dropped to one knee and asked Liv to marry her. (This is after saying "I want to be with you forever. Forever, okay?!" and realizing that that was NOT the question one usually asked when proposing). Liv said yes at least 10 times, and then as they were hugging and crying, gasped and asked "Did I say yes yet?!"
The two spent the rest of their day in Como on a love high, moving from shock to elation to excitement to tell their friends and family.
