This is a great place to visit for kids and adults! Adult tickets are $30,00, child tickets are $20.00.

The museum is open every day except Monday. Hours are 12:00 to 5:00 on Sunday, and 10:00 to 5:00 the rest of the week. There are extended hours on Thursday from 10:00 to 8:00 with admission being $5 after 5:00.
Admission to the museum is $12 for adults, $5 for children (ages 6 to 11), $5 for students, and $10 for seniors (age 60+), military and educators. Children under 6 are free.
The museum is next to Big Spring International Park
This is a nice (free!) place for a walk through the park. The water is filled with ducks and koi, and there are feeders throughout the park where you can buy food if you want to feed them. It is a 3-minute drive from Springhill Suites or a 17-minute walk.
This is a free memorial that pays tribute to all veterans. The Patriots Walkway is about a .5-mile walk and has various plaques and statues commemorating our veterans and the United States' involvement in military conflicts around the world. The bronze statues are Madison County combat veterans.
This memorial is a 3-minute drive from Springhill Suites or a 23-minute walk. There is adequate parking available.
This is Dr. William Henry Burritt's unique 1938 mansion. It is in a park with 6 authentic 19th-century homes with several outbuildings. Interpreters in authentic period dress are there to give tours and answer questions. There are also nature trails for hiking. Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and military, and $8 for children and students.
If you would like to go for a hike, Monte Sano State Park has 20 miles of hiking trails of varying difficulties. There is an entrance fee of $5.00 for adults, and $2.00 for children (4 - 11) and seniors (62+). $20.00 max for standard passenger vehicles.
If you are in town a little early, and don't mind a short drive to Scottsboro, AL (about 40 miles), Unclaimed Baggage is a shopping mecca! If you have ever lost a suitcase while traveling domestically, it may have landed at Unclaimed Baggage. The store is well organized (you don't have to root through actual suitcases!) and clean. And you never know what you might find! It is a true treasure hunt!
Harrison Brothers Hardware was established in 1894 and retains its original historic fixtures. The store has merchandise that reflects “American Made” at its finest. There is a selection of art and fine crafts, children’s toys, cookbooks, and more. It is nothing like a mall but shopping as it was in the past. If you have a few minutes, it is worth a visit. It is located on the square across from the courthouse and a block from the Church of the Nativity.
Lowe Mill has an interesting history and can be read about at https://lowemill.art/history/. It is now an arts and entertainment center. You can find jewelry, t-shirts, yarn, cigar-box guitars, and more crafts of all types.
Every Saturday, 11 AM - 4 PM, from May 4 until October 26 Lowe Mill has an Outdoor Market. Vendors from all over the area will present their products, whether made by hand, second-hand, or anywhere in between!
