After over 44 years we reconnected via Facebook. We both love hiking and for our first hike together we decided to meet at Richard Bong State Park in Kansasville, WI. This was the selfie we took to commemorate our first hike together.

W.R. Wadewitz Nature Park, Burlington. WI. When we are hiking it’s impossible not to see God’s hand in everything that surrounds us. Hiking together became our refuge.

When we hike we talk. We talk about the paths we have navigated in our lives. We talk about God, family, and friends, always watching over us when the trail became too difficult to navigate alone. We are so very blessed! Thank you for always being there when we stumble.

On our one year hiking anniversary I told Ludy that I wanted to recreate our first selfie. I hired a photographer, John Greco, and this is the result.

Ludy didn’t know, but I had a plan. We left our sunglasses on for the first picture. I told John that I would ask for a picture without sunglasses. When I took them off I planned to drop them, Johns's cue to get in position. I picked up my sunglasses, pulled the ring out of my sock and proposed. John captured the moment in this amazing photo. Fortunately she said yes.
