The Greatest Love Story Ever Told

This romance novel begins in the wild amongst a sea of maroon and gold. Thanks to Luke’s adventurous high school career, he met Ashley Morrison, a Belle Plaine native his senior year on the deck of a house party as the rooster crowed in the early hours as dawn approached. Limited sleep necessitated coffee and sparked conversation. This ended with “maybe I’ll see you at the U this fall”. Fast forward, the 1 in 50,000 chance happened when they connected again in the moldy and dusty halls of Territorial Hall. Luke brought his roommates to Ashley’s apartment his sophomore year which is when the sparks began to fly. In a 500 sq ft apartment with 50+ people in it, Brooke and Luke found a comfy corner while Brooke pried and paraded Luke’s full life story out of him. Between tears and laughter, there was no commotion, no loud music, no stress. Just the two of them. She made sure to leave a lasting impression before her friends dragged her to a different party.&nbsp; The odds continued to be in Luke and Brooke’s favor as they lived within a block of each other and shared numerous mutual friends. To this day, Brooke knew Luke was the one when he brought her donuts and coffee the day after a long night out. Our first true date together came as studying for finals together at Walter Library. As Luke was focused on his textbooks and lectures, Brooke was “sweating profusely” and “got absolutely nothing done” in the few hours of that first date.&nbsp; As undergrad came to an end, Luke and Brooke tested their relationship as he left for physical therapy school in Duluth, an easy 2.5 hour drive while Brooke finished her degree. The plan was easy. They’ll alternate weekends. Meet halfway. Meet new friends.&nbsp;&nbsp; And that’s exactly how it went.&nbsp;&nbsp; Brooke and Luke’s relationship flourished at distance grew. She became his “suga mama” as Luke called her and helped financially being able to do anything other than flip flashcards and play with his anatomy book. Brooke fit in perfectly with the new Duluth friends and even became a favorite amongst the Kent St house over Luke.&nbsp; As the Duluth chapter came to and end, a new beginning started for Luke and Brooke and they formed their first home in Edina. “I miss having a monster around” Luke told Brooke less than a month into leaving with each other, referencing a dog. They mutually agreed a dog was not the best option while living on a third floor apartment. This is the story of Kevin LeBron and his extensive medical history for a damn cat. From abandonment, to constipation, worms, manual releasing of bowels, and eventually an enema, we finally found a way to a prolapsed-asshole kitty cat that turned into the monster that Luke wanted.&nbsp; As years went by and states and countries were X’d off the travel list, they moved in with Luke’s brother and his girlfriend across the street from a cemetery – leading to the infamous group chat, “Cemetery House”. This was the beginning of Luke’s contractor prowess as the only way to move into the cemetery house was finishing and building a basement bedroom. To this day, the room remains 90% completed (like most of his work). The cemetery house remains one of the greatest gifts they’ve ever been given. Eric and Luke bonded and took on projects. Alyssa and Brooke acted as each other’s non-licensed therapists. King Momo took on a brother, Moose, and adopted a cat that he did not ask for. But most of all, Eric and Alyssa provided them the opportunity to save up and purchase their first home.&nbsp; “Pick between a ring and a home. You can’t get both right now”. Turns out, Brooke got both. In the matter of two weeks, Luke put a ring on her finger in the mountains of Lake Tahoe and held the keys to a neglected home that needed more TLC than Kev did when he was first brought home. Three months of interior and exterior projects later, there were lessons learned: 1. Randy cannot be left unsupervised while performing yardwork2. Brooke and Luke cannot work on the same project together3. Luke is not allowed to paint&nbsp; We cannot thank all of you enough for being a part of our day.
