Depends on who you ask.
If you ask me (Jeimmy), we met for sure first semester our freshman year of college. We were both science majors, so we took multiple classes together our freshman year. I don’t really remember the exact moment— it was more like I didn’t know who he was and then all of a sudden we were good friends. We shared many interests: our love for science, our love for the Lord, our love for missions and international travel. Both of us also spoke Spanish, so it was fun always knowing that someone would know what I trying to say when I forgot the word for it in English. If you ask him, he’ll probably tell you this story about a plant that we were talking about in bio class. And apparently, the professor was asking if anyone had ever seen that plant, and we both raised our hands, and then apparently I said something like “yeah I know that plant because I am from El Salvador”, but I don’t remember any of that. Anyway, we were really good friends all throughout college. He was definitely one of my best friends. Then college ended, and I guess that could not be the end of it? Right? Our friendship became something more several months after graduation, and our mutual friends and families were really excited about it (and we were too). And now here we are!
I am so grateful for Luke and all the adventures we have shared. I am grateful for all his love, patience, kindness, and wisdom, and I cannot wait to share the rest of my life with him.
If you ask Luke, we met at Missouri Baptist University in 2018 and became close friends quickly, sharing a common love of God, science, and others. The sweet friendship took an unexpected romantic turn several months after graduating, much to the excitement of our mutual friends.
Luke has always admired and appreciated Jeimmy's wisdom, commitment to scripture, love of science and medicine, welcoming heart, and adventurous spirit. He looks forward to living an adventurous life on mission with Jeimmy.
