It was the third of may, and uncommonly rainy, even for Seattle. Luke sat in a cafe and bakery near Lake Union, searching through the weather apps for a reason not to cancel the rest of the day’s flights. Hailee was huddled in a green raincoat, half-running down the sidewalk as the rain poured off the awnings overhead, splattering into the street. Deciding she might as well wait out the traffic with a cup of tea, she ducked into the first tiny cafe she saw.
These were two separate cafes, and a few weeks later they met on Hinge.
