His Version: I met Emersyn through her roommate, who worked with me at a bar. At the time, I had joined our work’s slow-pitch softball team, and her roommate would bring her along to play. Soon, my roommates and I started hanging out with her and her roommates—watching TV shows, swing dancing, and going to football games together. Through all these moments, I got to know Emersyn really well. Funny enough, my first impression of her wasn’t great. I thought she was bossy, a little mean, and had the manners of a teenage boy. But as time went on, I saw a completely different side of her. One that I started to fall in love with. Looking back, I think old me would laugh at where I am now. The turning point for me came during a winter break trip. My roommate actually told me not to come up and visit, but by then, I was already halfway to Kansas City. Emersyn, without hesitation, offered me a place to stay. That weekend, I met her family, and they were incredible. But the real moment of clarity happened when we went out dancing with our friends. Emersyn jumped onto the dance floor without a care in the world, and in an instant, she lit up the entire room. The energy shifted, and suddenly, everyone around us was dancing too. It felt like something straight out of a movie. That was the moment I knew I wanted to pursue her. From then on, the rest is history. I could go on about all of the wonderful memories we’ve made since then together but I’d probably crash the site. We compliment each other perfectly and she helped me take life a little less seriously at a time when all I really knew was work. I can’t wait to spend forever with her. - Luke

Her Version: I met Luke through my best friend, who worked with him and his two roommates at a restaurant called Goolsby’s. I wasn’t an employee, but I often hung out or did homework there while my friend worked. Over time, the five of us became a tight-knit group, spending our nights watching TV shows, listening to music, and going swing dancing.
After a few months of being around Luke and his roommates, I started noticing the little things I liked about him. He was incredibly smart, hardworking, and always put effort into the things he cared about. He made me laugh constantly, and—somehow—he liked me just as I was, even the bossy version!
One of my favorite memories of us is going swing dancing and trying to learn new moves. We would sit at the table, watch videos of fun flips and spins, and try to replicate them. After a few failed attempts we were fairly confident in our abilities and had a great time dancing together.
Being with Luke has made me a better, more confident (and maybe slightly more patient) version of myself. I love that we get to share our passions and learn more about each other daily.
Luke is my best friend, my greatest adventure, and the person I can't imagine life without. - Emersyn
