We recommend that if you plan on staying in Tuscany that you rent a car. It is the easiest way to get around the Tuscan cities.
If you are arriving to Florence by train at Santa Maria Novella station; take a taxi to your car rental of choice.
If you are flying into Amerigo Vespucci Airport (Florence) you can rent a car directly at the airport.
If you are flying into Milan - please be aware that the Airport is approximately 50 minutes outside of the city. There are shuttle buses that take you to Milano Centrale (Train station) where you can take your connecting train to Firenze (Florence).
If you are coming from Rome, take the Leonardo Express. This train is a dedicated direct service connecting the airport to Termini Station with no stops in-between. The journey time roughly 32 minutes, and it's available from 6.23am until 11.23pm every day.
If you are someone that would rather drive than take trains, you also have the options to rent a car from city to city if that fits your budget.
Please be aware of pick-pocketers at the train stations. I recommend fanny packs that will strap directly in front of you. Do not leave your belongings unattended, as Italian Police does not operate like we do.
