The Château is in Cazoulès, which is surrounded by market towns and villages, each one rich in history and unique charm.

Towns

Souillac - 5 minute drive away. An historic market town with a market every Friday morning.


Sarlat-la-Caneda - 20 minute drive. Another historic town with a cathedral amd cobbled streets. There is a market every Saturday morning.


Beynac - 25 minute drive. Located on the banks of the Dordogne river, it is known as one of the most beautiful villages in France.


Domme - 30 minute drive. A quaint town with amazing views of the Dordogne valley.


Rocamadour - 30 minute drive. A beautiful town set on the mountainside. It is known for the Cite Religieuses complex of religious buildings accessed via the Grand Escalier staircase. We visited this town when viewing the Château for the first time and can say from personal experience it is stunning- definitely worth a visit!

Châteaus

Chateau du Beynac - 40 minute drive. A medieval cliff top fortress.


Les Jardins Suspendus de Maequeysse - 40 minute drive. Waterfalls, peacocks, overhanging gardens and tearooms in the Dordogne valley.


Chateau du Montal - 50 minute drive.


Chateau du Hautefort - 1 hour drive. An extensive stately home in Perigord.


Chateau du Biron - 1 hour 20 minute drive. One of the largest castles in SW France.

Activities

Take a canoe or kayak trip on the Dordogne from St Sozy (20 minute drive) with canoe-kayak-dodgne.com.


Or just stroll down to the river from the chateau - it's only a 15 minute walk.
