Our Wedding

Lydia’s and Joel’s journey began at the beginning of this seemingly never ending pandemic. They met the modern way…. By swiping right on Bumble. Romantic, we know.Joel was able to lure Lydia out of the safety of her home after she had refused to see her friends for months. Their first date was a “socially distanced” hike at Oxbow Park in Byron, Minnesota. Lost in conversation, Lydia found herself wandering off the trail. Luckily, Joel’s exceptional directional skills saved her from a long cold night in the woods. These skills were later put to the test as he got them lost while winter hiking in Duluth (which required walking across a frozen lake to finish out the hike.)Some of Joel and Lydia’s favorite memories together have been: finding hiking trails at many Minnesota state parks, traveling to National Parks including Yosemite, the Everglades, and Biscayne Bay, and many nights spent at their favorite brewery, Thesis Beer Project.on October 6, 2021, Joel proposed on a section of the Superior Hiking Trail. The day was so foggy it was difficult to see much of anything. Thankfully, after Joel proposed, the sun broke through the fog for five minutes, allowing them to see the beautiful view Joel planned them to see. Of course, Lydia said yes!We are more than excited for you to join us say “I do” on September 3rd 2022.
