A stunning State Natural Reserve just less than 10 minutes from Carmel with loads of scenic trails, coastal views, tidepools, etc.
There is a fee to park there, but the lot often fills up fast so you may need to park alongside Highway 1 if so. It gets crowded, so go early!

Kayak with sea otters in their natural habitat at Elkhorn Slough. You do not need to make a reservation in advance. Single and double kayaks are available.
Lovely trail to run or walk down right along the coast. You can start near Monterey Bay Aquarium and stop to take in the views at Lovers Point Park and venture off through the cute homes and downtown streets of Pacific Grove.
There are usually lots of seals on the beach, and you can stop and stroll through the famous Cannery Row along the way.

Wander in shops & art galleries, eat at cozy restaurants, and wander around the residential areas. The houses are adorable and you’ll notice none of them are numbered - they all have names! So everyone has to get their mail at the post office - not at their houses.
Head down to the beach to see all the dogs playing and get glimpses of Pebble Beach.
Enter the gates of Pebble Beach to drive the famous 17 Mile Drive. When you enter, you’ll pay a small entrance fee and be given a map of all of the different spots along the way, such as the Lone Cypress, which inspired the iconic Pebble Beach logo.
You can walk into the The Lodge at Pebble Beach to walk through and see the 18th hole, grab a drink or meal, or just explore the variety of pro shops they have to get your own Pebble Beach merch.
