Our Wedding

Long ago when Jake and I were both still in middle school we first met down at Harlan County Lake. We would cruise around on the golf cart and try to stay out of trouble. We grew up together going to the same school and graduating from Hastings Senior High School. I graduated a couple years ahead of Jake so I went off to college first. I attended UNK and majored in Elementary Education. 2 years later Jake received a Track and&nbsp;Field scholarship to&nbsp;UNK and next thing you know we are at the same school once again. We have always been great friends throughout all of our years of school. My senior year of college was right around the corner and it was my time to venture out into the world, and move off to Houston, Texas. While in Texas I knew I had one of the best guy friends (Jake). Jake was back home in Holdrege working at Wagner’s Irrigation. He was one of the only ones&nbsp;from back home that stayed in touch with me throughout my time in Houston. I knew he was something special, and I always had a little crush on him, so it made it even better! As the next 2 years went on,&nbsp;we remained great friends and created a lot of memories together. I then started to realize I wanted to be with Jake on more than a friend level. Jake had just started his own company and was not about a relationship what so ever. &nbsp;I was very pushy towards what I wanted and he told me if I bugged him anymore about it he would stop talking to me. The stubborn person I am, I stopped talking to him instead and gave things a break. August of 2017 rolls around and we casually started talking again. At this time Jake was working up in Omaha, flipping a house. I had texted him one week and told him I would be coming up to Omaha that weekend to move my brother and Laura into their new house. He responded with perfect, I am still going to be here so let’s hang out. I headed there Friday August 18, 2017. The next morning, he told me he wanted to come help with the move (which I didn’t expect him to help at all). We worked all day moving them in and finished closer to dinner time. We all went as a family including Jake to go eat at the buffet at the casino. We stayed and hung out at the casinos the remainder&nbsp;of the night. On our way home, me being the blunt outspoken person I am, I looked over at him and I said okay Jake “s*** or get off the pot, do you want to date me or not?” He looked at me like he knew it was coming. He said yes he would like to date and that is when all our fun memories started together!

June 15, 2019- "A day I will never forget"

 



Jake and I were back in Hastings for Father’s Day weekend. After waking up Saturday morning, Jake said he wanted to go out to the Hastings airport to check out the original 1920’s first commercial plane. I found out that our friend’s parents were going to be flying their plane in for the fly in breakfast so I was super stoked on getting the chance to see the first commercial plane as well as Kurt Franklin’s plane! When we got to the airport Jake was going to buy tickets to go up on the 1920’s plane, but instead Kurt talked him into going up on his plane. Little did I know Jake had originally planned on proposing to me up in the air on the plane. Jake, Kurt and Tyler took a trip up in the air in Kurt’s plane to test it out before us girls went. Jake did not feel the greatest after getting off of Kurt’s plane since it was a smaller plane, so Jake then knew he had to go to plan B.After the guys landed, us girls went up with Kurt and had an awesome experience!&nbsp;We were planning on heading to go golf later that afternoon and Jake asked Tyler if him and Mariah wanted to go with us golfing. They said yes, so after taking rides on the planes we headed to Bullseye to get lunch while we waited for Tyler and Mariah to go get changed.Our T time was at 3:15 so after lunch we headed to Crooked Creek Golf Course in Clay Center, NE. Once we got there Jake and I headed in to the club house to get some drinks and pay. I should’ve known something was up from the start after looking back and realizing how difficult it was for Jake to get our drink order correct (obviously something else was on his mind besides ordering drinks). We finally figured it out and then headed out to get our golf carts. The boys took the close one, so Mariah and I had to walk clear behind the trees to get ours. The boys had a plan to do that to give Jake time to put the ring into his golf bag without me seeing or suspecting something&hellip;.well it worked.As we started golfing Mariah and I were riding together and talking about plans and ideas I had for what I wanted our wedding to be like someday. I told her we couldn’t talk to loud because I didn’t want Jake getting upset that I was talking about wedding ideas AGAIN&hellip;&hellip; We were enjoying our day and I was surprisingly playing pretty good for me that is. On hole 8, without me knowing, Jake had texted his mom and told her, “Hey we are on hole 8 and I am proposing on hole 9.” She freaked out obviously wondering if anyone was going to be there to take pictures and because Jake never responded back to her.We get to hole 9 and my second shot I got ahold of because it sailed over the green. Mariah and I went to look for it, while Jake and Tyler were already on the green. I kept asking Jake where it went and he was getting frustrated because little did I know he was trying to set up to get ready to propose. I hit my 3rd shot up on the green and waited for my turn to putt. Tyler putted his ball in, then it was my turn. I putted my ball and out of nowhere Jake came and blocked my ball with the flag&hellip;&hellip; I instantly got frustrated and said “Jake that was going in!” Jake smiled and then all of the sudden got down on one knee. I WAS SERIOUSLY SO SURPRISED! I screamed, cried, jumped, shook my hands, and instantly dropped to my knees. The man of my dreams was down on one knee asking ME to marry him. I was shaking so bad I could barely get my golf glove off of my hand so he could put the ring on my finger. We both stood up and as he gave me the ring, Tyler says, “so I take it you are saying yes??” Crying, I nodded my head and said yes as tears were rolling down my cheeks.&nbsp;Mariah took a bunch of pictures of us before we headed into the club house.Inside the club house, the golfers behind us bought us a round of drinks and we all took a celebratory shot! We hung out at the club house as people started showing up to celebrate with us and eat pizza. After eating, Jake and I wanted to go tell my mom the great news! We headed to her grave site, cried and smiled as we told her. We took a couple pictures as we got ate alive by bugs then got in the truck to head to Jake’s mom’s house for a bonfire.This day was great in so many ways and I wish I could relive it over and over. Jake and I are so blessed with the best friends and family anyone could ask for! I am so excited to become Mrs. Rossen and spend the rest of my life with Jake!
