Lynisa’s POV:
Hi! Ramon & I met at church! Though it wasn’t an immediate “spark” it is a beautiful testament of having the right people for us because of God.
I had a lot of things to heal from so I started going to Pearl Street to help with that. And JD attended PS Kids, which is where Ramon knew of me because he served in our kids ministry and that’s where JD was every Sunday! Honestly, I was very intimidated of Ramon because he walked around with such confidence and professionalism that I thought he was much older and thought no way would he ever be interested in my mess of a self!
Years of “hi & bye & hope you’re well/ have a good one!/ it was good seeing you!” til one day August 2023 he reached out in slack (to the whole church, but I answered) for toy donations for his school. All God because I had JUST FINISHED boxing all of JD’s that he no longer used.
We messaged each other to meet for them, and eventually we had each other’s numbers. And not much longer after that did we realize we are actually pretty similar and Ramon asked the bold question of going for coffee. (This was his version of our first date buuuuuuuttt iddkkkk lol)
God was with him though because I ended up turning him down three times after that for an actual date (healing still needed to be done).
But then I prayed hard to God “okay God I see You, I hear You and if Ramon is the man for me, make that clear to me” and the Lord answered!! With Ramon’s gentleness and kindness in his response. So when I was ready I asked Ramon if he was still willing, I would love to go out with him.
He planned the whole thing! We had our first official date at the Tower of America downtown and I knew he was the one for me when my stomach and cheeks were sore at the end of the night from laughing so hard. After that first date, we truly have been inviting God into the center of our relationship.
Then not much longer, on November 3, 2023 he asked me to be his girlfriend! And we truly dated with intention, gained a lot of happy relationship weight lol and after a year he asked me to marry him! And of course I said yes! This man is the most special in the whole world and to say I’m blessed is such an understatement and disservice to him because he is so much more! But we are immensely grateful for our friends and family at PSC because they prayed and rooted for us since before him and I ever came together
Ramon’s POV:
I first met Lynisa at church—not just as JD’s mom, but as a strong yet gentle woman of God, filled with joy and a smile that could light up any room. She was, and still is, the most incredible mother I’ve ever known. Her love for her son, her deep faith, and her heart for people stood out to me immediately. And, of course, she’s absolutely stunning.
For about a year and a half, I wrestled with my feelings for her. I found myself drawn to her, but fear of rejection and the season of life I was in held me back. I prayed, I hesitated, I wondered if I should say something—but I stayed silent. It wasn’t until 2023 that I finally decided to pursue her.
I became more intentional—finding ways to run into her, messaging her, praying that God would bring us together if it was meant to be. Then, in what seemed like a small moment but meant so much, she was the only one to respond to a post I made on Slack. She helped provide toys for my students at school, and that simple act opened the door for something more.
From there, I asked her to coffee. We sat and talked for hours, realizing just how much we had in common. I fell for her even deeper that day. Conversations turned into dates, and dates led to the moment I asked her to be my girlfriend. Since then, we’ve grown together, walked through different seasons of life side by side, and she has been there for me every step of the way.
I knew she was the one.
So, I decided to propose. Surrounded by our closest family and friends, I asked her to spend forever with me, and she said yes. That moment was beautiful, but it’s only the beginning of the rest of our lives.
Now, here we are—counting down to the big day. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with Lynisa and JD, building a future filled with love, faith, and joy.
