Daniel and I met in 2007 at a family church camp, Paisano Baptist Encampment in Alpine, Texas. Daniel was in 5th grade and I was in 7th grade. We quickly became friends and ironically, our family cabins were two doors down from each other. Every summer for 8 years, we reconnected at camp! As time went on, our feelings for each other grew but of course we didn't share that small important detail until much later. Going on about our lives, I was a sophomore at Hardin-Simmons and Daniel was a senior in high school. He visited Hardin-Simmons as one of his college days and attended a HSU basketball game. (I had no idea he was in town) We waved to each other and said "hi"!

Fast forward to October 2023, Daniel attended game one of the Texas Rangers World Series. I commented on a picture he posted from the game (felt brave) and said, "I was hoping you weren't an Astros fan!" (He's a Rangers fan of course) We messaged back and forth a couple of times. That November, Daniel messaged me and asked me on a date to a Dallas Mavericks basketball game. Our first date was December 1st, 2023 to a Dallas Mavericks game followed by Braum's. (This was the first time we've seen each other in 7 years) Sitting in a Braum's booth, we confessed we both liked each other ever since we were kids. After all this time, neither of us knew about the mutual secret crush until that very moment! Better late than never! (Even if it was 15 years later) ............. We got engaged on December 28th, 2024!! :) We are so excited to see what the Lord has planned for us!

Fun Fact:

Over the years of attending camp, we both made the most important decision of our lives and accepted Christ as our Lord and Savior at Paisano. (Not during the same year or anything but still pretty neat)

To say the least, we are forever grateful our families took us to camp! Paisano will always hold a special place in our hearts.
