Our Wedding

Back in 2020, pre-pandemic, there were two people. Moving about their lives and jobs - one in Marketing and the other in Education. They didn’t know it then but it was going to be the start of something magical. January 25, 2020, Macara and Bryan matched online (Hinge to be exact) and it was a fast connection. Bryan was charming and flirted with Macara. Macara flirted back and found that she was enjoying his conversation - it was engaging, humorous and always genuine. Fast forward a few weeks, to February 2020 - and it is Macara’s busiest time of year for being a school counselor. Not wanting to lose Bryan to her unfortunate habit of being a tardy texter — she went out on a limb and let him know she was going to be swamped and may be later (than usual) texting him back. He wasn't phased as he was in a similar position at work, and in his personal life (more on that later). This level of understanding was one of the many reasons she started to fall for him. About six weeks went by of texting, late night FaceTime calls, and several dog pictures of the furry loves Roscoe and Gary later, that they were able to actual meet up in person. The nerves were unreal. They met at a restaurant local to them both in Carmichael, CA on March 4, 2020 and the spark was definitely there! As the date went on, Macara ordered greens (true story!) and Bryan fish tacos. It was perfect - just what you’d think it would be, conversation flowing, charm and humor always in the forefront. It dawned on them during conversation that there was something more familiar about each other, beyond the obvious established connection over the last six weeks. Bryan had just lost his Brittany Spaniel Roscoe to cancer and Macara’s dachshund Gary was declining in his health due to old age. As they were sharing their experiences, of heart break, commiseration and vet visits - it was clear as day. They go to the same vet! Our joke to this day is that Gary and Roscoe knew that we would be absolute disasters without them, so they found each of us another soulmate to make sure we weren’t alone. The pandemic hit on March 13, 2020. Schools shut down and the world was shocked by the unprecedented events of the next months and years. However, Bryan and Macara continued to make things work because they choose each other every day. Another joke to this day is that Bryan has only ever taken Macara out on one date - but he’s since rectified that! We are so excited to have you join our story at this chapter in our lives. Our Story

Photo Memories

Amanda and I have been friends for almost 30 years. We met in our Montessori Kindergarten program, and were fast friends. We grew up across town from each other, but we often spent our time running wild in her basement or at the neighborhood pool. As we grew up, our Saturdays became consumed with the routine of going to our computer based tutoring program, Score!, to ballet classes for the rest of the afternoon. We would spend other adventures wandering her mother's incredible garden, or trading sticker pages for the Stickopatamus books (for which we did nothing with later in life).

As we became adults, and our lives moved through the collegiate chapters, and building our careers, we maintained a friendship that will last a lifetime. She is someone that I will forever call my sister, and am grateful to have her as Maid of Honor. 

Amanda Suller

Matt is my identical twin brother, and while we've had our moments growing up where we have fought or bickered, as adults we have grown much closer. I appreciate that he has always been there for me when I needed an ear or a laugh, and I am really grateful to have such a brother. 

It is my honor to have him as my best man in my wedding, because he has always supported me in life, and now on one of the most important days of my life, I couldn't image anyone else by my side. 

Matt Nichol

I have known Chris for 20 years and we met in our middle years of high school, at Serra High in San Mateo, CA. I found a fellow sports enthusiast, both as an athlete and as a fan. We spent a ton of time both on and off the baseball diamond culminating in a few epic battles in the rec league. Not to mention more than a few legendary breakfast burritos were shared.

He has always been there to help through any situation that has come up in life. I couldn't think of a better person to have stand up with myself and my brother. 

Chris McLinden

Charles and I have been family since before birth. Our mothers met in the Naval Wives club at Mare Island Naval Base. They stayed friends after we were born, which meant that we went with them. We developed our own friendship, separate from our families, and we remained connected as life continued. 

He has always been my brother from another mother, and while we went down different paths, we remain to this day - family. It is absolutely my treat and pleasure to have him stand up next to me.

Charles Klingler

John and I (Macara) met while working at Education Unlimited, an educational summer camp based on college campuses. John and I primarily worked together on the junior college campus of Stanford University, where we suffered through dining hall food for weeks, and uncomfortable beds. We have continued to be friends throughout the years between camps, and major life events.

John has been a mentor to me for not only professional growth, but personal growth. He supports me through validation and reminders to eat and drink water (mostly when we'd be at camp), that directing camps are a tough job, and that the relationships we build are what are the most lasting pieces in life. 

His perspectives on life have been refreshing, informative, and always genuine. It is wonderful to know John, and to be his friend, and more so of an honor to have him officiate our wedding.

Wedding Party

The Maples is an outdoor venue with mostly natural pathways, and grass. We encourage and remind guests to anticipate walking on grass and natural surfaces. We are hosting an age 21+ year old event. Adults only please.  A buffet dinner will be served after a cocktail hour following the ceremony.  We would also recommend that you wear sunscreen, as it may be toasty, but we anticipate that the festivities will be predominately in the shade. Bug spray may also be something to consider to wear, in case you are susceptible to insect bites.

This is the closest airport to us, and our venue! If you choose to fly into San Fransisco International Airport, consider extra transportation to get from there to Woodland.

This golf course is located in nearby Davis, CA. This plays as a longer course and it is more challenging. This course is also more expensive.
