Jeremy and I decided to take a Wild About Winter tour in Yellowstone National Park just before meeting up with a few friends for a ski trip in Colorado. Towards the end of the tour, the group arrived at Old Faithful where we were scheduled to stay for the next few days. Old Faithful was set to go off minutes after we pulled into the hotel, so we hurried to see it while there was still daylight. It didn't disappoint! Afterwards, we headed back inside and went to dinner. Jeremy, who is a landscape photographer, wanted to get a few shots of Old Faithful going off at night, so we got dressed and headed back out for night shots. The starry night sky was so clear that you can see the Milky Way which provided a breath-taking backdrop to Old Faithful's beautiful eruption. Afterwards, we took a walk along the boardwalk that surrounded the area, stopping along the way to take night photography. As we approached the hotel, Old Faithful was minutes away from erupting and Jeremy wanted to take a few more night shots of it going off before turning in for bed. By this time it was late and a chilly 2 degrees out. There were two bison asleep near the geyser and I myself was wanting to do the same in my warm bed, but I knew the eruption didn't last long so we stayed. When it was over, Jeremy started packing his photography gear back into his bag and while doing so, turned around and popped the question! It was just me, him, and the starry sky above us. A night we will never forget! We can't wait to start our new chapter together.
