Mitch & I talked about marriage from the start. We aligned on our goals & our values, & we met each other’s families within the first month of meeting one another.

We were open about our past traumas & the baggage we carry from failed relationships, & we definitely had our ups & downs (the holidays seriously kicked our butts). Our relationship hasn’t been perfect by any means, but we have managed to strengthen each other individually while growing together as a team.

One night, after a few hours discussing financial next steps, short-term goals, long-term goals, & everything in between — marriage came up in conversation. As he was cooking scrambled eggs and fried bologna, Mitch said, “I would marry you tomorrow. We can go down to the courthouse, & we’ll do it.” To which, I laughed, rolled my eyes, & said, “Yeah, ok.” He said, “You don’t think I’m serious?” & I reminded him: “I told you, if you ever want to marry me, you need to get on one knee & actually ask the question. That’s the only way I’m going to take you seriously.” & as I started to walk away, he grabbed my hand & pulled me back to him. He put down the spatula and got on one knee as he held my hands & looked in my eyes & told me the reasons he wanted to marry me — followed by the actual question ♥️
