Mackenzie Bailey will host two small bachelorette parties to accommodate her guests better.
Some friends and family live in Calgary. To accommodate them, the first bachelorette party (May 16th-19th, 2025) will take place in Calgary or Nordegg, Alberta.
The second bachelorette party, held at Shawnigan Lake (September 9th to 12th, 2025), caters to friends from Vancouver or those travelling from overseas.
This arrangement ensures everyone can celebrate Mackenzie's upcoming marriage.
156 Braemar Street, Calgary, Alberta
You can reach the organizer, Nicole Bailey, at:
● Phone number: 236-777-8927
● Email: nicoleba@student.ubc.ca
This contact information will also be shared in the group chat.
If you need to cancel, please notify Nicole Bailey as soon as possible. We understand emergencies happen, and we'll do our best to accommodate. However, depending on when you cancel, you may or may not incur costs.
The total costs will be divided among all attendees. This includes food, activities, and other shared expenses.
Nicole will provide an itemized breakdown of necessities, such as food and decor, before the event. After the event, she will also provide a second breakdown detailing additional costs incurred during the bachelorette (e.g., boat fuel usage) and a small thank-you gift for Cam and Gelaine.
Please note that your accommodation is free of charge. You will have a room at Cam and Gelaine's cabin.
Please refer to the "Expenses" folder in "Mackenzie's Bachelorette Party" Google Drive Folder. There, you can upload receipts and see what has been spent.
Please transfer your share of the costs to Nicole Bailey, who is handling the payments. You can e-transfer her the cash at nicoleba@student.ubc.ca.
Yes, please pay Nicole Bailey by the following dates:
● First deadline: Saturday, September 6th, 2025
● Second deadline: Wednesday, September 17th, 2025
Please adhere to these deadlines to avoid any complications.
Please note your allergies and dietary requirements in the"Bachelorette Party Attendees" sheet before September 5th, 2025. Failing to do so may mean Nicole is unable to buy food that accommodates your needs.
Pack casual and comfortable clothing, swimwear, toiletries, and any personal items you might need. Don’t forget a nice outfit for the winery visit and comfortable shoes for activities.
Nicole is arranging carpools to the cabin. Details about departure times and locations will be shared closer to the date.
Yes, you are welcome to join for part of Mackenzie’s bachelorette. Please note the days you will be attending in the "Bachelorette Party Attendees" sheet so we can adjust plans accordingly.
Everyone will share their contact information on the "Bachelorette Party Attendees" sheet. Please share your location with the bride (Mackenzie Bailey +1 (403) 862 2904) and maid of honour (Nicole Bailey) one day before the bachelorette party starts. Stop sharing your location when you leave the wedding. Nicole needs to know where everyone is to coordinate timing (e.g., infer each person's expected arrival).
When choosing stories to tell, consider:
● focusing on highlighting the bride's character or virtue,
● sharing a story about a funny or memorable experience you had with Mackenzie.
Please upload your contribution to the "Stories" folder by Sunday, August 18th, 2025. Nicole will briefly look over your story before the event.
You can write a good story without using a framework. But storytelling frameworks make creating a narrative easy. Consider using the three-act framework, hero's journey, or Pixar formula.
Three-Act Framework
● Act 1 - Setup: Introduce the setting and characters. Establish the story's main conflict or problem.
● Act 2 - Confrontation: The characters face challenges and obstacles. This is where the story develops and becomes more complex.
● Act 3 - Resolution: The climax and resolution of the story. The main conflict is resolved, and the story concludes.
Hero's Journey
● Ordinary World: The hero's normal life before the adventure begins.
● Call to Adventure: The hero is faced with a challenge or problem.
● Refusal of the Call: The hero initially hesitates to take on the challenge.
● Meeting the Mentor: The hero meets a mentor who prepares them for the journey.
● Crossing the Threshold: The hero leaves the ordinary world and enters a new, unfamiliar one.
● Tests, Allies, Enemies: The hero faces tests, meets allies, and encounters enemies.
● Approach to the Inmost Cave: The hero approaches the main challenge or crisis.
● Ordeal: The hero faces a significant challenge.
● Reward: After overcoming the challenge, the hero gains a reward.
● The Road Back: The hero begins the journey back to their ordinary life.
● Resurrection: The hero faces a final test where everything is at stake.
● Return with the Elixir: The hero returns home, transformed by the journey.
Pixar Storytelling Formula
● Once upon a time, there was...: Set the scene and introduce the characters.
● Every day...: Describe the routine of the main character.
● One day...: Introduce the event that changes the routine.
● Because of that...: Show the consequences of the change.
● Because of that...: Continue to show the unfolding events and consequences.
● Until finally...: Lead up to the climax and resolution of the story.
Each formula has its unique approach, but they all help in structuring a compelling story. Choose the one that best fits the story you want to tell.
Yes, Mackenzie wrote this story for Brooke Pearman's bachelorette party. Brooke is extremely fun, and attendees knew to showcase her sense of adventure and romantic prowess. Mackenzie emphasized her role as the foil to Brooke, the heroine of the story.
"Mackenzie Through The Years" is one of the games and activities we will play during Mackenzie's bachelorette.
Each attendee chooses a photo of Mackenzie and dresses up like her. A collection of images is supplied here. If you have a preferred photo of you and Mackenzie, please feel free to upload it and use it.
"Guess the Book" is similar to the bachelorette game "Guess the Panties.” Guests bring a new book for the bride-to-be. Mackenzie has to guess who brought each book based only on the cover. Consider writing a note on the inside of the book.
Consider giving Mackenzie a book that reflects you, your shared interests, a memory, or a shared experience.
Here are some ways to choose the perfect book:
● Reflection of You: Choose a book that showcases your expertise or interests. For instance, if you're a lawyer, you might give Mackenzie a book on logical fallacies and argumentation. If you're into parenting, a book on raising children would be fitting.
● Reflection of Mackenzie: Think about Mackenzie's interests (e.g., philosophy) and select a book that aligns with her passions.
● Shared Interests: Give Mackenzie a book reflecting your shared interests. For example, if you both love reading, consider giving Mackenzie a copy of one of your favourite books.
● Shared Memory: Give a nostalgic book that references a shared memory. For example, if you lent Mackenzie "The Blue Castle" or "Daddy Long Legs" one summer as children, this gift would reflect your shared past.
● Shared Experience: Consider giving a book that reflects a shared experience from your friendship. For example, if you and Mackenzie built a friendship overseas, a book by a famous author from that country would work. A book about that country’s history, architecture, or famous artists would also work.
Mackenzie will cherish these books forever and read each one. Your thoughtful selection will be much appreciated.
Please share the title of the book you plan to give Mackenzie in the "Guess The Book Tracker" sheet. This will prevent duplicate gifts. Mackenzie will not look at the sheet.
You have several options to personalize the book you'll give to Mackenzie.
Consider writing a heartfelt message on the inside cover.
Also, you can add a favourite photo of you and Mackenzie to the “Book Photos” Google Drive folder. Feel free to include more than one photo. For example, you may add a childhood photo of you and Mackenzie and a photo from your adult years.
Nicole will print everyone's photos. Before the “Guess The Book” game starts, you can write your note and stick your chosen photos inside the book's cover.
In "Dress The Bride," you create a wedding dress for Mackenzie using materials like toilet paper, tissue paper, ribbons, faux flowers, and tape. Guests are divided into teams of 3-5 people. Each team has 5-10 minutes to make a wedding dress using the provided materials. (You can add accessories like veils and bouquets.) Once time is up, the bride judges the dresses based on creativity, style, or humour. The winning team receives a prize.
"Kiss the Groom" is similar to "Pin the Tail on the Donkey." Participants are blindfolded, given lipstick, and spun around. They then attempt to kiss a poster of the groom, Steve. The person who kisses closest to the groom's lips wins.
Consider handwriting a letter reflecting on your friendship with Macknazie before the bachelorette party. Alternatively, you can type it and upload it to the "Letters" folder in games and activities.
When you write your letter, you may want to express:
● How you see her,
● Mackenzie’s importance to you, or
● A specific collection of memories you share.
If you want to include photos, please upload them to “Scrapbook Photos”. Nicole Bailey will print them for you.
Some scrapbooking supplies will also be provided.
