Some of our favorite spots and activities if you’re staying in the Fort Lauderdale area.
Tap 42 Craft Kitchen & Bar (South Fort Lauderdale) American cuisine, amazing craft beer selection, one of our go-to’s in the area! Fun fact: this was the venue for our first New Years Eve celebration together.
Mister 01 Pizza (Downtown Fort Lauderdale / Las Olas) Thin crust Neapolitan style pizza, some of the best “traditional” Italian pies around. Don’t you dare order takeout, these bad boys can get soggy if you don’t eat em asap.
Kelly’s Landing New England Seafood (South Fort Lauderdale) Our absolute favorite restaurant in the area. Lobster rolls, steamers, Sam Adam’s, Oh My! Get everything we just mentioned and maybe a lobster burger, you won’t regret anything.
Sushi Garage (Downtown Fort Lauderdale / Las Olas) Upscale sushi in a shnazzy environment. Great rolls, apps and cocktails.
The Riverside Market Cafe (West Fort Lauderdale)
Mack and Conor’s (and the boyz) favorite spot in Fort Lauderdale. Hundreds of beers in grab-it-yourself coolers. As a bonus, they also have some damn good pizza and apps. (Make sure you go to the SW 12th Ave Location).
Funky Buddha Brewery (Oakland Park)
One of the original Florida craft breweries. Beautiful sprawling tap house with a rotating selection, plus solid food options.
LauderALE Brewery (near Fort Lauderdale Airport)
Our recent favorite for a local brewery. Great selection, beautiful outdoor surroundings and as a bonus they usually have local foodtrucks on the weekend.
Las Olas Bar Hopping
Check out Las Olas in Downtown Fort Lauderdale for a more upbeat environment. Everything from dive bars and craft cocktail bars to “clubs” and sports bars.
THE BEACH!
The Fort Lauderdale area has some of the most fun beaches in South Florida. Fort Lauderdale Beach, Hollywood Beach, and Lauderdale By-The-Sea all feature picturesque beaches, warm water and tons of beach bars and activities.
Heading or staying down south in Miami? Check out some of our tried and true favorites.
Duffy’s Sports Grill (North Miami Beach)
To be honest, it’s a typical sports bar (though it is waterfront and has its own swimming pool, plus a DJ on weekends). BUT, if you’re on the Mack + Conor history tour, this is where it all started. Feisty bartender meets lowly waiter, and the rest is history.
Sanguich (Little Havana)
One of the best Cuban sandwich spots around. Sure it’s maybe not the most traditional take, but delicious nonetheless. For something more traditional, head further east on Calle Ocho (which we recommend checking out either way).
Sawadee Thai & Sushi (Normandy Isles)
Hands down our favorite Thai spot in south Florida. Curries, sushi, noodle dishes plus BYOB wine and beer. Need we say more?
Cafe La Trova (Little Havana)
Arguably the world’s most famous Mojito bar, right in the heart of Little Havana. As a bonus, they have live music every night in the dining room.
Lagniappe (Edgewater)
The cutest little (big) wine and cheese bar around. Pick out a bottle inside, and head out to the lush backyard garden. One of our all time favorite drinking spots in Miami.
Wynwood Arts District (Wynwood)
The original hipster neighborhood in Miami. Street art, galleries, shopping and breweries galore (we recommend Veza Sur, Dogfish and La Tropical).
South Beach
Sure, it may be tacky and frankly a little played out but c’mon. When’s the next time you’ll be here?
