We met in 2013 while playing our favorite video game. Ironically the name of the game is Destiny! We happened to be "roaming Earth" very early in the game with our headsets on and our paths crossed. We proceeded to play games every night after that for the majority of eight years. When the pandemic took over in 2020, we decided what better idea than to finally meet in person!

"Phillip practiced a lot before the proposal to get it perfect. I remember finding notes he had written making sure to get the words right. I think the proposal was so sweet when he proceeded to repeat "I'm so nervous" before bending the knee!"- Mackenzie

The proposal was done on Galveston Beach near 21st street. We are so thankful to Thomas and Victoria Deeb for setting up the picnic and taking photographs so that we could save this memory forever. One special piece of the proposal is the ring holder which Phillip made using shells he found on the beach.

"We decided to do a private wedding on google meets for reasons associated with Covid and military which were out of our control. The wedding was very special. We were able to privately exchange the rings afterwards which was also very sentimental. Phillip was able to wear the top half of his dress whites for the wedding and I wore a white dress. My Nannie made a bouquet out of my living room flower arrangement and my mom had the honor of officiating the wedding! We were lucky that many were able to attend but we have always dreamed of having a proper wedding celebration to bring our families together with God at the center. "- Mackenzie
