Mackenzie and Sam met at Kent State University, where they both were attending college. They spent a lot of the early parts of their relationship galavanting around Kent and Cuyahoga Falls with Mackenzie's sister Shayna and brother-in-law Issac. Some of their favorite memories from that time are walking to The Basement bar and grill for late night snack or walking to Pav's for boozy milkshakes.

Once Sam finished college he was offered a job in Verona, Wisconsin. In July of 2022, they packed all their things into a U-haul and moved into their first apartment together multiple states away. Shortly after settling into the new place, Sam and Mackenzie adopted their two cats Tumbleweed and Sprout.

Mackenzie and Sam have spent the last few years traveling Wisconsin, hiking at state parks, kayaking in nearby ponds and lakes, and sampling cheese curds at all the local restaurants.

In March of 2024, Mackenzie and Sam planned their first big trip to the Grand Canyon & Sedona, Arizona.

In August of 2024 Mackenzie and Sam traveled to Sheboygan, Wisconsin where they got engaged on the beach of Lake Michigan.
