Our Story

Picture of Our Story

Josh and I met online and despite hating online dating apps hit it off. Josh was funny and easy to talk to, and upon learning about my Italian background made a joke about taking me to a super authentic small place not many people had heard of... the Olive Garden. Thankfully he was joking.

On our first date we discovered we had a mutual friend that I had grown up with and Josh had served his mission with in Paris, France. I promptly texted him after the date asking "what's the vibe?" "Do we trust this guy?" etc. I got the most enthusiastic response raving about how great he is and so far he's lived up to it ;)

Thanks to the rave review we went on a second date to the Thanksgiving Point tulip festival. We call this date the turning point (no pun intended) because we clicked and it was pretty much a done deal from there. Josh offered to make me dinner at his apartment on the drive home (not realizing that food is my love language) and after what he calls a bad stir fry I was pretty much smitten.

The only hiccup in this whole thing was I was leaving the state for a summer job in Colorado less than a week later. Fortunately, Josh's parents *happened* to live about a 15 minute drive away from where BYU was housing me. In addition, Josh happened to have purchased a flight pass earlier in the year that got him cheaper flights. Because of this he was able to visit me every three weeks in Colorado. I think these coincidences were really divine intervention and showed us how meant to be this relationship was.

Upon returning to Provo in mid-August, we were excited to be in the same state (same city even)! Before the fall semester started we took a trip to Canada - Josh's first time in the country - where Josh met most of my family and got to see where I grew up :)

Overall, it's been a wild ride. Since the fall we have been working, studying, researching, and making as much time for each other as we can (mostly many side by side study dates). I've applied for Master's programs in Marriage and Family therapy (Josh edited all of my application essays, god bless his heart) and will be attended Auburn University in the fall (sweet home Alabama).

Since we anticipate travelling due to schooling if you would like to contribute to our life together (totally okay if not) we would prefer financial contributions rather than bulky items to move :) Our registry has cash funds you can contribute to or venmo kenzie465. Thank you!
