Chemistry in Biology

We met in high school biology and only learned a month in that we also shared an English class! Lillian - the new kid - saw one student they recognized, and Mackenzie just so happened to be sitting directly next to them.

Distance Makes the Heart Grow Fonder

We all remember Covid, which kept everyone from seeing friends and family. Mackenzie and Lillian had lost touch during that period, but were randomly reunited when they shared a car ride to a volunteering opportunity for National Honors Society. They have been inseparable since!

Coffee, Coffee, and More Coffee

Mackenzie and Lillian have never consumed more liquid than they did while sitting at Biggby, whether that was after school, before or after volunteering, to study, or just for fun. Sharing stories, gossiping, helping with homework, or just enjoying each other's company, the two became regulars at the little coffee shop. And speaking of coffee, Biggby is where Lillian asked Mackenzie out on a date.

Butler Bound

The pair packed up and headed to Indianapolis to pursue their college degrees. Lillian started as a music education major, but found their calling in Psychology and Sociology. Mackenzie knew she wanted to be a lawyer for as long as she can remember, so she naturally chose Political Science and Sociology, eventually adding a minor in Ethics.

Let's Go Dawgs

Football, Starbucks, ResCo, Soccer, and of course, Butler Basketball. Mackenzie and Lillian have blossomed as Butler Bulldogs! The sense of community and the homeyness that Butler provides has allowed their relationship to flourish. While school and work are not always easy, Mackenzie and Lillian have found comfort, love, and friends with other bulldogs.

Lillian had been thinking about proposing for about 6 months, from picking out the perfect ring to a gorgeous location and the best photographer. Ultimately, they chose Frederick Meijer's Gardens and Sculpture Park, where the fall colors made the atmosphere magical. Mackenzie thought they were going to look at the mums, which they did, but Lillian popped the question at the cutest gazebo, surrounded by trees and water. Of course, Mackenzie said yes.
