John likes to say it all started with a right swipe on Tinder but the truth is that our friends met on Tinder and introduced us in Seattle, in October of 2015. After two weeks of double dates John left for a three month deployment on patrol in Alaska. We emailed back and forth until he returned, sailing right in front of my first apartment. We officially started dating not long after.

Once we made the decision that John would move on from the Coast Guard, we landed back in Seattle, with John joining Mackenzie in the renewable energy industry. Since moving back, to just a few blocks from where Mackenzie used to live in Ballard, we have grown our group of friends and have loved exploring the PNW together.

The thought of braving a Seattle winter again drove us to snowbird in San Diego for the month of January. You couldnt think of a better spot for us to get engaged than on our favorite beach right by where we used to live. John popped the question at sunset, Jackson was thoroughly confused with the entire situation, and of course Mackenzie said yes!
