It all started at Mackenzie's best friend, Madie's, rehearsal dinner for her wedding. Madie was getting ready to marry her now husband James who is actually Kyle's (the future groom's) brother. For years prior to this day, Madie had been trying to get to Mackenzie and Kyle together but nothing ever came of it. That was until Madie and James had strategically paired Mackenzie and Kyle to walk down the aisle together at their wedding. After the rehearsal, the bridal party went to the Branding Iron (RIP) for some line dancing. When a slow song came on, Kyle went up to Mackenzie and said this brilliant line: "What's a beautiful girl like you doing not on the dance floor? Would you like to dance with me?" And so they danced and got to know each other for the rest of the night, but that was just the beginning.

On Madie and James's wedding day, it was finally time to walk down the aisle. Mackenzie and Kyle had been talking throughout the day, laughing, and smiling. For the reception, they even came up with a funny grand entrance - finger guns!

Later that night after the wedding had ended, Kyle messaged Mackenzie on Instagram. From there, they started talking everyday whether it was texting or being on the phone late hours at night. Not to mention, they still found time to talk with Kyle being stationed in North Carolina (a 3 hour time difference) and Mackenzie being in her student teaching cycle. It was during this time that they really got to know each other.

After talking for months, Kyle came back to California while he was on leave. It was during this time that Kyle and Mackenzie really fell for each other and could see a real future together. The only downside was that Kyle was getting ready to leave for a 6-month deployment where there would be little to no communication. However, due to their strong feelings, they decided to go all in and stick out the deployment as boyfriend and girlfriend.

During this time, Kyle was on his deployment, traveling through multiple countries: England, Norway, Ireland, Spain, Greece, Italy, and Latvia. While there was little time for Kyle and Mackenzie to talk, they would make it work even with a 10 hour time difference. They also wrote letters to each other frequently when there was not any cell service. Through this time, the couple really fell in love.

Even through holidays spent apart, Kyle sent Mackenzie flowers to show her his love and Mackenzie often sent Kyle care packages throughout his deployment.

Finally, after the deployment was extended two months, Kyle and Mackenzie were reunited in Camp Lejuene, NC. They spent the week with family and just enjoying each other's company after being away from each other for so long. The best part was that even through the distance and timing, it felt like they picked up right where they left off.

While still doing long distance, Kyle found the time to fly out from NC to CA for Mackenzie's college graduation. Throughout that week, Kyle and Mackenzie spent everyday together, and spent time with each other's families.

On May 10th, 2024, Kyle proposed to Mackenzie and of course she said yes! It was the most beautiful and special day. Now here they are getting ready for their wedding.
